In order to find out what shows we do for the next year, the teachers at my school give clues to make us try to figure it out before the formal announcement. SO they gave some great clues but I really cannot figure it out. So for one of our shows here are the clues:
1. It is from the last 10 years
2. It should not include revivals
3. (this is the big one!) it has 10 words in the title; however, you rarely refer to the show by all 10 words, and some posters did not even have all 10 words on it.
4. It's NOT Forum
5. They would not tell us if this was for the play or the musical.. so it could be either.
6. It was on Broadway
Okay here is what I have been thinking: The title may include something like "a new musical comedy..." or "xyz's new musical..."

It "was" on Broadway? Or is it on Broadway?
My guesses are:
"Wicked: The Untold Story of the witches of Oz" (But that's only 9 words...?)
"You're Welcome America. A Final Night with George W. Bush"
Let me think some more =I

"A Musical Comedy" or "A New Musical" would apply to any original musical on Broadway, yes? "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas (plus whatever 3 word tag you want to add) would apply.
I just checked IBDB for every year from 1999 on and there's nothing original in any of those years that have a full 10 words in the title. The closest is "If You Ever Leave Me, I'm (I am?) Going With You". It can't possibly be that because it was a personal biographical comedy routine for the two stars.

Ten words? Wowza. Is it How to Succeed? That's not ten words though.
What about Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street: A Musical Thriller? That's eleven though.

"Jacques Brel Is Alive And Well And Living In Paris?"
EDIT: EPIC FAIL. Not only was this off-Broadway, I didn't realize that the 2006 production was a revival. Sorry!

Posted: 2/10/09 at 5:49pmThanks for all the responses! I think Sweeney Todd is a good guess because we have a lot of guy acting/singing talent w/o much dancing. I don't think it's How to Succeed because there is too much dancing. I will look up some of the obscure ones you have suggested and give my input later

Posted: 2/10/09 at 6:15pmSpelling Bee seems like the most obvious option, as it's the only one mentioned here that meets all the requirements. Sweeney was not written in the last 10 years, nor does it have 10 words in its title.

Posted: 2/10/09 at 7:35pmI'm going to have to work on this one! I agree with Piragua Guy. Spelling Bee is really the only one that fits of those mentioned. I cannot imagine a school is doing something too obscure (although I guess which school it is), but this is a tough one. I just hope it's not too obvious or we are all going to feel stoopid after!

"Your Drama Teacher's a Dick Who Does This Because He's Insecure: The Musical" Nope...13 words.
I think it's stupid that drama teachers do this. My college professor actually put me on suspension for releasing the shows in the following season after I had a glimpse of it before all the other students. What's so wrong with letting students know what show you're doing? Hell..they announce Broadway shows YEARS in advance. It's just a power play to boost their egos, because obviously they're bored with their own lives. Has anyone seen Summer Heights High? Mr. G is a PERFECT example of this.

"2. It should not include revivals "
Spelling Bee is the only one that fits all criteria except for the one above. Spelling Bee never had a revival so that wouldn't even be an option...

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street: Student Edition
That's ten words, although I don't know if you're in high school...
Oh wait, that had a revival. Dangit.
Well anyways, adding "student edition" to stuff might make up the rest of the ten words.
#19re: Broadway Trivia
Posted: 2/11/09 at 4:14pmThe problem with Spelling Bee is that those 3 words are not part of the actual title. At least not according to IBDB.
