I don’t know about the connection between greed and low-quality productions in NYC. But one thing I really hate about in recent one or two years is ATG officially coming to NYC and bringing these greedy tactics with the (food in your seat ?!, what’s next, ice cream mid show (imagine the bad breath in act two), whole bottle which u can pour a glass of wine yourself from at your seat?
I don’t like all of these. The noise from unwrapping candies is already distracting enough.

I attend dozens of shows a year when I am working in London and people eating ice cream at interval is far preferable (and quite quiet) compared to Broadway fare. The whole experience is quite civilized.
Tiny little tubs, at astronomical prices. At least they're so small they are long gone before Act 2 starts.
