Just In Time 3.0 - Jeremy Jordan
 Apr 22 2026, 02:41:37 PM

I'm not sure I see a significant difference in the so-called "boyishness" between Groff and Jordan.  It is part of the charm of both of them.  YMMV.

Just In Time 3.0 - Jeremy Jordan

Thinking of all the earlier comments questioning if the show should stay open without Groff.  Floyd Collins is working some magic here and is going to do just fine.

Timbers has done a nice job staging these bows.

Jesse Green: 13 Actors to See Onstage No Matter What They’re In

"sweats charisma" for Groff gets Green a +1 for clever phrasing

These lists are always so subjective, but he offers a nice mix.  Six of these fine actors were already on my list.  Happy to have some more to add.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 4/12/26
 Apr 16 2026, 07:28:38 AM

We also are in an era where fewer things break into a larger mainstream awareness or cultural zeitgeist and those that do often don't remain top of mind as long as they once did.

The plus side of that is "The Long Tail," and more artists and works get some level of attention where once they may have toiled in almost total obscurity.

Interesting times.

Broadway Fire Sale?
 Apr 13 2026, 11:08:27 AM

Fuel surcharges that don't get removed when fuel prices drop again definitely is gouging.

Higher airfares increasingly are a by-product of pricing algorithms.  Airlines are getting much more proficient and maximizing plane size, flight frequency, and ticket prices, et al to maximize their profits.

I fly a lot and getting decent fares takes much more work than it used to.

What to See London First Weeks of May

Loved Into the Woods and seeing it once more time this week before the cast changes:

"The original principal cast of Into the Woods at London's Bridge Theatre, including Katie Brayben (Baker's Wife), Kate Fleetwood (Witch), Michael Gould (Narrator/Mysterious Man), and Jamie Parker (Baker), will play their final performances on April 18, 2026. "

Pink to Host the 2026 Tony Awards
 Apr 10 2026, 07:29:05 AM

Playbill say "the 2025 Tony Awards, hosted by Cynthia Erivo, achieved a six-year viewership high with 4.85 million viewers on CBS, a 38% increase from 2024."

Seems like a big deal, but I agree with others that she likely would not attract anywhere near that level of interest this year.

In my professional role, when I facilitate meetings or focus groups, one thing I see consistently is that groups gravitate towards common themes and then set side the other opinions.

I make them take a second look for what I call "interesting outliers," the comments that aren't reflected in the majority's themes, but hold some interesting potential.

That's often where the real insight or innovative idea is found.

The search function often is pretty weak.  Here is the reviews thread which probably addresses your question somewhere in it if I recall correctly.

DEATH OF A SALESMAN 2026 Previews
 Apr 6 2026, 04:46:00 AM

For those of us who always need more of a Laurie Metcalf fix, here's the trailer for Big Mistakes, the new series she is in with Dan Levy. Starts on Netflix this week.

Description from the NYT which foolishly does not mention her as the mother.

"The actor and comedian Dan Levy, probably best known for his droll stare and shenanigans as David Rose on “Schitt’s Creek,” is returning with “Big Mistakes.” This new comedy crime series, which he created with Rachel Sennott (writer and star of “I Love L.A.”) ups the ante on familial dynamics. But instead of following the unhinged-yet-lovable Rose family in a desolate Canadian town, Levy’s latest series will involve high-stakes deception. When two siblings (Levy and Taylor Ortega) commit a theft for their ailing grandmother, they find themselves in the world of organized crime and a spiral of blackmail. Begins streaming Thursday on Netflix."
