I lived through a UK home reno for about six months that looked almost exactly like the set, plastic tarp and all.  It's not all that unusual.  You make do with what you have.  

As someone who gets paid now and then to do keynote speeches at conferences, I've always been a bit surprised to not see many Broadway performers go that route on the side. Politicians, authors, and other entertainers certainly do.

A Broadway performer with a fair amount of public presence combined with a compelling message in a well-crafted presentation could probably do quite well at major conferences, easily getting $5K-$10K for a few hours work.

Contrasting opinions are great.  Unbridled self-importance and arrogance?  Not so much.

No more than anyone is forced you to comment on whether or not someone is forcing the OP to attend, a predictable response that does nothing to advance the conversation, nor does mine.

 

KJisgroovy didn't say Steppenwolf is in "some kind of a death spiral."   "Artistically adrift" was the description, something far less extreme.

I'm not sure I would even go that far.  But as a long-time patron, I would say that despite the continued high quality of many individual productions, I do find the most recent seasons taken as a whole to be more of a mixed bag in terms of productions choices.

The irony of offering a counter to someone who put forth a term intentionally used to signal inclusion.  

I'm one of those who found the van Hove-directed revival to be pitch perfect and saw it several times, each as impactful as the others.  But I certainly wouldn't miss seeing what Sam Rockwell could do in this work.

It does seem Shaw and some of the other newer critics either have a different standard for awarding the pick or are just enthused about almost everything.

I'm not sure I see a significant difference in the so-called "boyishness" between Groff and Jordan.  It is part of the charm of both of them.  YMMV.
