I don't see the show until January, but I was struck by Chris Jones suggesting one reason Channing and JDL's performances differ in tone is that they are from different generational cohorts.

^ This is similar to my reaction after seeing it in London. I do think that if the production hooks you at the start, the cumulative effect of what follows earns the payoff many, if not most audience members experience. That never occurred for me, and I quickly grew weary of the repetitive musical style and tone, staying outside the emotional experience of the show for the duration. I'm glad it resonates with so many though.

Kyle Cheney reports Trump has formally asserted executive privilege to prevent document production related to a lawsuit. Given that he appointed himself to the Board Chair role and it is an unpaid volunteer position not tied to his role as President, I'd imagine a judge could block this. Christopher will be a good test of how well the show can sell based on its subject matter, reviews, and reputation while in the hands of a talented performer less well known than his predecessors. Maybe it will work, maybe it won't, but I certainly can envision Christopher giving a strong performance.

Previews have started. Early reports seem mixed to positive. This is a streamlined/reenvisioned book and score running 90 minutes, no intermissions. Seeing it later this month and will report back.

Your off-stated concerns about elitism and pricing are well-represented in multiple threads. While pricing trend are indeed increasingly outlandish, it is worth noting that even well-reviewed celebrity-driven shows often fail to recoup. I'm not sure one has to be a "greedy bastard" to hope you might get your investment returned.And fairly reasonable prices by today's standards were amply available during the initial weeks of ticket sales. I bought two of them (dress circle) at different times...
