I think a name *can* matter to some as to whether or not they see a touring production, especially outside of a subscription package. I make no assumptions about for how many and under what circumstances this might be true. It would be interesting to know what any marketing research on this topic might reveal. And moving forward, if NYC/Broadway continues to be cost-prohibitive for some, what is the ripple effect of that on touring productions, audience interests, and casting?

I'm in the minority in that I found it too twee and one-note in London, but for those who like it, the show hits hard and seems to generate strong word of mouth as a result. I could see it being the safe "feel good" show many might gravitate to seeing.

The UK board seems fairly convinced that a traditional production of West Side Story will grace the National's stage in 2027, directed by Marianne Elliott with a large orchestra.Having been thrilled many times by the NT's production of Follies and having missed the van Hove Broadway production, I certainly hope this is true.
