My friend was trying to buy Hamilton tickets for August. She was asking me about Broadway.com, which is notorious for its outrageously high processing and handling fees, so I stopped her.
But then I took a look and it was an orchestra row T ticket, and was listed for $285 with $121 handling fee, which adds up to $406. Meanwhile, on the official Ticketmaster, the same seat for the same date is listed for $600+ dollars.
How come? I always thought bway com is sort of like an “official scam”, but for Hamilton the tickets are $200 cheaper than the original? I’m a bit confused. Does anyone know what is happening? Thanks!

Broadway.com is a broker, not a direct ticket agency like Ticketmaster or telecharge. So they are essentially a middleman that needs to tack on fees. For almost any other broadway show, they are terrible because you are paying an exorbitant fee for no reason when you can just go to telecharge/Ticketmaster and get the same exact ticket for a much smaller fee.
When it comes to HAMILTON, broadway.com is actually a bargain in most cases. They have tickets for Hamilton that are hard to find and yes, there is a hundred dollar fee, but even with that huge fee, they are STILL cheaper than getting tickets from other sources. It just shows how expensive Hamilton tickets are, really.

I can't speak about the specific ticket you found, but I can speak about Broadway.com. Yes their processing fees are high but they are an official ticket broker for Hamilton, just as much so as Ticketmaster. I believe Broadway.com is somehow linked, managed, and/or owned by Hamilton (and other show) producers.  They are not a ticket reseller like Stubhub.

When Hamilton was crazy popular And it was impossible to get seats, I bought two different sets of tickets through Broadway.com. Even with the expensive processing fees they were still much more affordable than any other tickets you could find back then.

Hamilton assigns specific blocks of tickets for each performance of Hamilton exclusively to Broadway.com. They should not be available anywhere else, including Ticketmaster.  Broadway.coms best seats are orchestra row R and S and mez row A and B.  They are given the exact same seats for every Hamilton performance from the Hamilton producers.  It is roughly 50-70 tickets per show.

It is not a scam, it is just an alternative way to get official tickets to several shows. The only show I have found it worthwhile for is Hamilton. They also have a very good exchange policy. I have had to use their policy and they were great about exchanging dates.

Hey! Idk if this helps any but through my university, I get discounted Broadway show tickets for up to 4 people. Hamilton is included for a price of $165 dollars with taxes and fees included for all of April and the first two weeks of May. I’d definitely be willing to sell the three extra seats if you’re interested.

No it isn’t schooltix actually it’s brodwaypassport.com. A discounted annual fee was provided to me through a student membership. I paid $38 dollars for a year’s worth of discounts to about 20 shows or so at a time.

Just be careful when buying Hamilton tickets from someone who joined BWW today! This person is posting multiple messages hawking these tickets.

I agree with everything JPeterman says. I have also purchased Hamilton tickets through Broadway.com. Very good experience, no problems whatsoever.

Some Broadway.com dates for Hamilton have only premium seats available, however.
