Has anyone ever received one of these? I got one for my birthday and was astonished on what a ripoff they are. I just tried to use it for an upcoming show and could not believe the service charges and lack of seating options (like none) that you have on their site. For the $200 gift certificate for a weeknight show Anything Goes, it would still cost me almost $100 + out of pocket. I could use a discount code for the same amount of money and get to choose my seats. I feel bad for the person who bought it for me who probably had no idea what a bad deal it is.

I had $150 and bought rear, rear mezz tix to Anything Goes as well. Ended up paying out of pocket $50-60 more dollars. If only you could use the certificates for rushes...

Rushes are probably the only way this would be a good deal. Very disappointing but I would never hurt the gifter by telling them.

B'way.com is ridiculous for buying tix! Its one of the first things I tell people to avoid.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Ticketmaster or Telecharge is a better buy.

I'm so glad that there was a thread about this! I've lurked on this site for years and never posted, but just need to vent to other broadway goers. Friends of mine for my birthday chipped in and purchased a gift certificate to broadway world for me. It's what I thought was a sizable (and very generous) gift that would allow me to purchase 2 tickets for myself and another member of my family-most likely my daughter who has inherited my very expensive habit. I went on the site to find tix for us and I was stunned to see the price and the fees! My husband and I are seeing Once in a few weeks and opted to use the discount code instead. If I purchased 2 tix for us, we would still be paying out of pocket for the fees-yikes!!
I'll use it for us (my daughter), but I'm still going to be paying out of pocket-for shows that are on b'way box with a great discount. I'm shocked, maybe naive? I feel badly for the friends who were purchasing a great gift-I have a feeling they thought it would go farther and never realized what a rip off broadway.com is for tix!
Ending rant-thank you for letting me vent....
