Hello,

It is my first time visting New York and i am plannin on going to see quite a few broadway shows and i was wondering which website/place was th ebest to buy reasonably/cheap tickets? I have heard about the rush and student tickets but but for example wicked have a limit of 2 on their lottery so that wouldn't be possible.
Also are the seats in the rear mezzanine on a majority fo shows restricted view of are they quite good?
I noticed the Lincoln centre seating (for suth pacific) is different so where is the best place to sit there?
I know thats a lot of questions but i want to make sure!

any replies and infromation would be appreciated

thankyou!:)

I usually get my discount tickets at Theatermania.com. This site also has a discount section.

Enjoy your trip! There is nothing like walking in to see your 1st Broadway show!

Provide us with the following information and we can give you your best options:

1) Which shows are you planning on seeing?
2) How many tickets do you need per show?
3) Do any in your party have student or military IDs? Are they children?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I also suggest that since it is your first time visiting NYC, if you have an open day where you are not sure what you are going to see, go stand in line at TKTS and take a chance on what they have available. It is a fun experience standing in line at the booth in Times Square.

I agree. You can make a list of the shows you'd like to see and then see what TKTS has available.

Each theatre is constructed differently and the sight lines are different depending on the theatre and the show. I've found that most seats are terrific at both Lincoln Center (South Pacific) and especially at the Imperial for Billy Elliot.

Wicked:
Lottery: 5:30 for 8PM Performances 2 tickets per named selected. No student rush, No SRO. $26.50 CASH ONLY Front row of the ORC.

Shrek: Lottery 9AM sign up 10AM Drawing, $26.50 2 per name selected.
Rush: $36.50 Each 1 per ID (Is usually at TKTS, but don't do TKTS print a discount code and go to the box office they let you pick you're seats) ALWAYS make sure tickets are FULL VIEW. I've gotten stuck with Parital view seats once and they were really bad. (not for Shrek it was for Mamma Mia)

South Pacific: NEVER ON TKTS, they might have rush if they do it's $20 one per ID whatever they have. It depends on the day for rush with them.
Mary Poppins: Don't waste your time but anyway
$30 box seats
SRO: $15 or $20 (AT TKTS usually)

9 to 5: Lotto: 90 minutes before the show names are drawn 60 minutes before the show $26.50 cash only. 2 tickets per name selected

Phantom: NO RUSH, (At TKTS)
SRO: $26.50 when show is sold out

Um, random question, but do they give student discounts to high school students and/or college students?

Most shows accept both college & HS ID'd for student rush
The only 2 that I can think of that are college only are Shrek &TLM (I think TLM might take HS's now tho u gotta check)
