That charity definitely wasn't "Broadway's favorite charity".

Definitely not. I hate Trump. And whatever happened to THE APPRENTICE being cancelled? This Celebrity edition sucks.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I guess they could have bought them or the shows could have donated. Fun show considering I can't stand the Apprentice

So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?

More than likely that NBC bought out blocks of tickets for the matinee of the specific day it was filmed. They had to guarantee that each team would have so many tickets to sell per show.

Wouldn't it have been awful if neither show would have sold much of anything? The Broadway shows would have the money but not the audience.

I'm sure there were plenty of empty seats especially with the corporations who bought masses of tickets.

I would hope that the Broadway shows had a back-up plan and would have people on a reserve list for free tickets (local schools or what not).

I'm not an Apprentice fan - and the celebrity edition really isn't much better. Except for the fact that money is going to charity, there's not much appeal. But, I tuned in last night simply because I heard about the Broadway angle - each team had to sell tix for four Broadway shows (they had to choose from eight, so there was some negotiating involved to get what they wanted) and whichever team raised the most money was the winner.

I was rooting for the ladies - and not just because I'm a CURTAINS junkie and David Hyde Pierce made an appearance at their booth to help out. :)

Wow that sounds interesting. What shows were involved? who won?

The men won thanks to a last minute $10,000 check from Richard Branson. This show runs on connections rather than actual business acumen.

The shows they had to choose from were Avenue Q, Drowsy Chaperone, Spamalot, Hairspray, Spring Awakening, Curtains, Chicago and one other that escapes me.

RENT.

I thought this was a fun episode. Anything that promotes Broadway is fine by me. I did think it was a bit funny when Trump said "Broadway's favorite charity" and Marilu's eyes lit up and then when Trump said the name, some school fund, a look of confusion passed over her face.

Seriously! I thought it had to be BC/EFA....or would that bother the red states.

How could I forget Rent?

It was okay, not great. However, I would have fired Marilu Henner, even though I think she is great. I mean, if the broadway actress cant win a broadway challenge, where she had her first pick in shows, knows whats hot etc. then I dont see much hope for her.

I agree this apprentice is based on connections with big bucks vs actual business knowledge. The men appear to have more big name/richer celebrity friends/contacts than the ladies. I wouldn't be surprised if Trump scrambles the teams up. if he doesn't I don't know if the ladies can pull out any wins. This show hasn't been good since the first season. I was hoping the celebrity one would be better. I have it on in the background while I am on the computer or doing other things. I was excited about this Broadway episode- it had so much more potential. i was disappointed and shocked that Broadway's favorite charity was a school fund- wher edid Trump get that from?

I couldn't bring myself to watch this, even with the Broadway tie-in.
