Is Lin the first Broadway related persona to be on SNL? If there have been more who were they? I know SNL's schedule doesn't really work for Broadway shows, but I think we should get a musical act that is in someway related to Broadway.

Im excited for Lin and Broadway tonight

The Linda Ronstadt "Pirates of Penzance" company was the musical guest on a Christmas episode. They did a medley from the show (in costume) as the first number, and a medley of Christmas carols for the second.

Is Lin the first Broadway related persona to be on SNL?

Alan Cumming hosted. The cold open was excellent (and pure Bway).

Many actors with Broadway beginnings have hosted SNL, but it was once they achieved film and/or television popularity. The hosting gig generally coincides with the promotion of an upcoming or recent project. Lin-Manuel Miranda is the very first host principally known for his Broadway work, obviously HAMILTON. Yes, he's appeared on television in the past but he's (at this time) strictly known for Broadway.

SNL's also done some pretty funny Broadway-related skits over the years - the one with different MT characters like the Phantom they did a few years back made me laugh a lot!

Bobby Moynihan as Mr. Mistoffelees was beyond hilarious - ""Meow, meow, meow, meow!" It is I, the magical Mr. Mistoffelees"

Found a transcript, whoever wrote this sketch would've been given every award possible if I had a say!
