What a pointless honor. Shows like ACL charged $15-30 when they opened. Shows like "Oklahoma!" charged $2-6 when they opened.
Congratulations on inflation. And congratulations on charging a lot of money for tickets.

"For adults, [THE LION KING] is HAMLET."
Ah. I knew I was missing something when I saw it.

you must have missed the part where Nala goes crazy and dies.
Also the part where Simba accidentally poisons his mother, and then dies himself.

Holy Jesus Christ, THE LION KING was the longest 9 hours I ever spent in a theater.

It's the same with movies, and yet the studios love to throw those statistics around as well.

Posted: 4/10/12 at 2:58amWait so a bombastic tourist circus show takes this "honor"? I'm not surprised. I will never understand the hype surrounding this show. Maybe if the rest of show was up to par with the opening number, it would be worth it. Other than that, it's boring.

This prooves nothing other than Disney is a large cash cow - Duh!
McDonald's has made the most money from selling hamburgers... but like the Lion King, there's no meat to be had.

As do Madonna fans on the off topic board.

And they achieved it with almost no promotion whatsoever! If the numbers sound important today, then that is what really matters. If you don't like The Lion King or Mary Poppins on Broadway, then what did you ever like about Disney to begin with?
If Scar's going to act like a bitch, then he's going to die like a bitch.
