Very sad news and way too young.

I was fortunate to see Kevin Gray in a number of shows, beginning with the York Theater revival of PACIFIC OVERTURES in 1985. He was so gifted, warm, and handsome. Very shocking and sad news. My heart goes out to his wife and family. RIP Kevin Gray.
I saw him as the Engineer nearly 20 years ago and that performance still sticks with me.
RIP, Kevin Gray.
A lovely man, how very sad indeed.
My family is deeply saddend at this shocking news. We have been fortunate to call Kevin & Dodie friends for 20 years. Kevin set the standard for the leading roles he played. He was a brilliant dedicated theater professor who inspired many.
More importantly he was a wonderful person who loved life, his adoring wife, his cats and loyal friends. Heartfelt prayers to Dodie. R.I.P. my friend.

he was an incredible Engineer when i saw him in my very first musical on stage.... so sad... RIP
I saw him in THE LION KING, very sad news indeed.
He was the reason that I went into theater. I met him years ago when I was 13 and in high school and he was in Phantom of the Opera (the tour). I think he and Dodie had just gotten together and I have fond memories of them both. He changed my life and it is obvious from his facebook page that he touched more lives than he ever knew. What a tremendously talented and kind man who gave his all to the theater and to his loved ones and his students. I am so saddened to read this. Lots and lots of love to Dodie and his friends and family.
I saw him in Miss Saigon in Los Angeles. He was terrific as the Engineer.
RIP
He was terrific in THE KING AND I, but my favorite role of his was Kayama in PACIFIC OVERTURES. His performance of 'A Bowler Hat' was transcendent. My deepest condolences to his friends and family.
My very close friend was a close family friend to Kevin and her wife and is deeply saddened by this loss. AS for me, his vocals on the Saigon Complete recording are among my favorite. I have sung along with him numerous times. I am sad I will never get to see him perform live. RIP.

I found myself at Phantom of the Opera last night... I had not seen the show in a number of years, but purchased tickets recently in order to see Sierra Boggess as Christine. Of all the nights to be at the Majestic... *sigh*
At curtain call, Hugh Panaro stepped forward and said a few words in memory of Kevin Gray as a beloved member of the Phantom family and recalled Gray as his first Phantom when he initially joined the show 22 years ago and offered their love to Gray's wife and family before asking the audience to applaud Gray one last time.
What a lovely, thoughtful tribute. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Simple thought it was, one thing Panaro said just settled into my brain. "Kevin Gray was my first Phantom. Kevin Gray will always be MY Phantom."
Thanks for sharing that, Broadwayguy. I am still so sad about this and hope that Dodie and the rest of his loved ones are okay.
May he rest in peace.
