So, I'm going to see Cinderella in 4 days, and I might be lottoing for Newsies as well. I just had a few questions about stagedooring for these shows.
~ Where is the stagedoor (Both shows)
~ Do Laura and Santino come out and take pictures? (Cinderella)
~ How many people usually stagedoor? (Both shows)
~ What if I don't know the actor who I'm talking too is? (Both shows)
~ Where do you sit to be closest to the stagedoor when the show lets out? (Both shows)
~ How do I get a spot up front? What happens if I get stuck in the back? Do I push my way up front? (Both shows)
~ How many people usually stagedoor? (Both shows)
~ Which actors don't come out? (Newsies)
TY in advance for answering my stupid questions. As you can see, I've never stagedoored before.

1) Location of stage doors:
Broadway Theatre: As you exit the theatre, turn left and then head up 53rd Street. The stage door is a little down the block-- just look for the barricades.
Nederlander: The "stage door" is actually the exit you will take leaving the theatre, so just walk outside, and then get to the other side of the barricades that are set up.
2) Yes, both Laura and Santino come out and take pictures
3) I don't know whether you're asking about the audience or the cast members. but expect a crazy crowd at either show
4) If you are wanting to exit in a hurry, I guess an aisle seat would be best. But don't skip applauding the cast just to go to the stage door; it's rude.
5) To get a spot up front, just walk fast. If you get stuck in the back, don't push your way up front, it's also rude. And both shows tend to have a lot of kids at the barricades, so you would be risking injury to them. The actors will make their way down the barricades so don't worry if you're down the line. Most (if not all) will make their way.
6) Most of the older cast members do not stage door at Newsies from what I can tell (but I haven't been in several months, so maybe things have changed); generally at least 10 cast members will come to the stage door, but it really depends on if it is a matinee because they have only a short time to grab dinner between shows prior to the fight call.

Pushing your way up front is both rude and unnecessary. Also, aside from the obvious reasons why pushing your way up front isn't a good thing, it's a sure-fire way to piss off the people around you, whom you have to stand next to for quite some time. Really not a good idea.
Both shows have casts who, if they choose to do the stage door thing after that performance, will try their best to sign for everybody. There's no reason why you need to run people over to get a good spot at the stage door. If you want a photo, you have to be towards the front, in which case it's better to spread out and be at the end of the barricade and towards the front than be all the way in the back at the beginning of the barricade. It's extremely rare for someone to stop signing in the middle of the barricade.
Just be calm and don't freak out.

"What if I don't know the actor who I'm talking too is? (Both shows) "
For Cinderella, just address everyone as Laura. For Newsies, assume everyone's name is Jeremy or Jordan. If you don't feel comfortable with that then you should run away from the barricades flailing your arms and screaming.

Yep, kind of freaky how people get about this stuff.

Thanks for the answers guys! I really appreciate it! :)
As for the pushing my way up front, I didn't mean like bulldoze my way up there. I know that's rude. I would never do that! I meant like gradually kinda try to get close. Because I'm not really a tall or big person, so I don't want a spot where I can't even reach to get my playbill signed!
