So I posted about James Barbour and asked for your thoughts. BW.com took it down? Why? Any thoughts?

Didn't the end of the thread turn into people trying to out the name of the victim? I would imagine that's reason enough for the thread to be deleted.

they delete threads that cross the line. They have done it to my threads as well. They sometimes do it when it when a thread becomes senseless and unnecessary. I am surprised they haven't deleted some more of my threads.

BWW is a loosely moderated board. I imagine they have very few moderators, and that they are probably volunteers.

BWW's guidelines, shown in the link below, explain their rules, which are quite often not enforced. Personal attacks are commonly tolerated, but when it comes to threads that could get them sued, they will be quickly deleted when noticed or reported (there's a "report abuse" button on the dashboard that any poster can use to bring abusive posts to the mods' attention(s)).

The thread in question had libelous statements made in it, as did the one created in an apparent attempt to duplicate it, which was also deleted.

They can delete a post, thread or poster for no reason at all. It's their board, provided free of charge. Their board, their rules.

They do monitor the board and delete stuff, but not as much as they used to - or should.

"Didn't the end of the thread turn into people trying to out the name of the victim?"

The thread had one poster who hinted very directly at the identity of the victim, although those posts were subsequently edited/blanked by him, so the info wasn't up for very long.
