Broadwaycon - concerned about schedule

Attended Brodwaycon for first two years and doing it again this weekend. Am concerned about the schedule of events. It seemed that in prior years, there were better programs and this year's schedule looks much less. They are promising more programming to be scheduled but with four days to go, I am concerned.

I imagine losing Playbill contributed to at least some chaos.

I wish this new Broadway News site (which is still its new sponsor, I assume?) would attempt some outreach. Right now it's very dry and mysterious.

Is there any tea on why Playbill dropped? I'm fascinated by BroadwayCon, as on one hand I'm glad it exists, but on the other, it just seems like such a mess and waste of opportunity.

Last year they at least offered some tickets discounted, and now the cheapest you can go is for $90/day. So unreasonable, I haven't even considered going, and I'm as big of a "Broadway" fan as they come. Their target audience fascinates me.

I will have gone to all three of them, and this year seems the most scattered. I was also surprised at the lack of discounts this year as opposed to last — they're still at the Javits, but I wonder if they're renting fewer rooms or have a smaller space overall for whatever reason.

“Broadway Con” seems like an apt name for this event.
Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

Would their issues with the actors union last year be an issue? I went the first two years, but last year was rather disappointing as a lot of the performances were cancelled because the union wouldn't allow it.

It's one of the reasons why I'm not going this year. As someone that goes to a lot of cons, the price seems outrageous. At least lots of performances made up for that a bit.

The union wouldn't allow it because the Broadway Con producers didn't want to pay them.

I think I remember reading that they do have an agreement with the union this year.

I've gone to some interesting panels so far. But, definitely Playbill missing is clear. The paper guide is pretty useless because it just reiterates information that you can get online or on the app. Also, they just tell you to look at the app for daily programming. And it seems inconsistent with scanning badges for panels. I walked into the first without having that done, but had to at others. I also saw that the line for activation and getting badges was a mess this morning if you didn't already do so at home.

I thought the space seems bigger actually. Like there was just the small bunch of rooms next to the marketplace. Now they are 2 different spaces.

Will see what the rest of the weekend brings. I'm worried about main stage seating. Like I don't want to get shut out on evenings because I want to go to those panels, but only have a general pass. I have no other plans for these days.

Anyone here want an autograph pass for Alex Brightman today at 5pm? I don't think it's going to work out with timing for things for me, so I would be happy to give it to someone else. Pm me if interested.

Did anyone go to the audition panel with Donna Murphy? Did she have any interesting stories?
