Since a lot of people have been complaining about pop stars doing Broadway, I thought it would be fun to switch things up a bit.
Here's how you play: Pick a pop song, then select a Broadway star that you would like to hear sing it.
Like so:
"Since U Been Gone" - Eden Espinosa (Kelly Clarkson)
"Somebody Told Me" - Adam Pascal (The Killers)
"Absolutely Zero" - Gavin Creel (Jason Mraz)
"My Boo" - Corey Reynolds & Trisha Jeffrey (Usher Raymond & Alicia Keys)
See what I mean? Have fun.
PS - Does this count as 'on-topic'?

yeah... how come broadway stars can go out and record rock/pop albums but god forbid if a pop/rock artist does a broadway show.
Alice Ripley, Adam Pascal and Idina Mendzel are just a few.

To add to zippy's post: Adam's always wanted to fulfill that "rock star" dream, and just sort of ended up doing theatre, being good at it, and enjoying it. He's lucky that he can move pretty seamlessly between the two. It's obvious that he's still first and foremost a musician, though... and, well, more power to him (and the others that want to branch out) for going for it.
And, I know I'm being more than sligtly elitist here, but I feel like the difference lies in the reasoning behind *most* instances of pop star casting on Broadway. The Broadway actors who have been able to cross over - mostly on a small scale like the people we've mentioned in this thread so far - are cast because of musical theatre talent. They aren't cast becaue of their sensational record sales and recording careers, like the "true" pop stars are.
