everyone just take a deep breath...ok. Glad you liked Joey. Second, i have seen quite a few of the understudies for various roles and they did prove themselves. Thats what they are there to do- prove that they are as good as the orginal cast and to share their talents with the public. We should def. respect these great people more. Third, some of the things JLT does are similar to KC because they are playing the same person. It is impossible to create a completely different person out of Galinda. She has little actions she does constantly that both actresses did, but both girls took Galinda to a different level. I give my props to JTL- shes been doing great.
Ok. I'm done. Let the burning begin.

I'm sorry but I SWEAR that JLT did a certain walk in the show that I always see KC do. It wasn't just my mind. KC did this walk where her arms were out in front of her and she was leaning back. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Oh yes dear - I'm not a theatre person. I couldn't act, sing, or dance my way out of a paper bag. And God knows I have plenty of MASS!

Can I burn you first - broadwaybound?
Everything you said is absolutely.............
...........in accordance with how I feel!
I think JLT has really proved herself!
Sometimes understudies are better! The person who has the role just is more well-known!

I loved JLT. I mean, can you imagine how hard it must be to have to convince people you're just as great after Cheno? She really won me over!
Anything that JLT does that KC originated, consider it a huge compliment to KC. I mean, its guaranteed positive reviews if you can do what KC does! :)

Thank you. Theatre snobs are everywhere and apparently I am condisidered ignorant because I don't save my playbills and instead sound out the people's names as I can remember them. Sorry. There people are not famous. It's hard to remember their names!

I had a discussion about Glinda and her "moves" (don't know what else to call them). I saw Cheno and then I saw her understudy. They WERE suprisingly the same... But then I actually thought about it for awhile. It could be that the director pushes the actress in the same direction... if that makes any sense. People come expecting to see certain things, and although to me it seems just a teensy bit wrong, I wouldn't put it past a director to ask for similar moves and such from another actress taking the originals place.
Sorry if that didn't make any sense... I haven't had my coffee yet

Nope. I consider you ignorant because you are posting about these people on a BROADWAY website so it wouldn't be that bloody hard to do a teensy bit of research and find out their actual names, now would it? And don't even get me started on your dumbass dipSH*T bitch who can't sing comments.

Just a little insider info, for those of you who may not know..
When you step into a Principal role like this one, in a show that is a SMASH HIT and a major commercial success, they do not encourage very much "artistic license" when you take over the role.
Not saying that they (they being the creative team ; director, musical director, choreo..etc..)not to say that they don't want you to bring yourself into the equation...that is a given, always...but they have a formula that is working...there are (20) other actors, an entire orchestra, lighting & sound people that have been working off of the particular "path" that the character takes, and if you are stepping into a running production, you must do just that...STEP INTO IT....
If something got a laugh every night for a year and a half, they want you to throw that in...be it a certain move, or inflection, line reading, whatever..
There is a lot to "taking over" a role that most people would not realize. It is often an unfair ( but very common) practice to compare understudies or replacements to the origional actor/actress who DEVELOPED the character..
Most understudies and replacements' hands are tied....they are in place to perform a function. But you MUST consider how talented someone must be to be 2nd in line as well....especially in today's Broadway climate where, talented or not, a NAME actor is going to get first dibs on 99% of any role worth playing on BWAY because of the rising cost of producing a show, and the fact that most shows wouldn't last if they didn't cast names, or stars...
So give the understudies and replacements a break....

I want to address this. This is not bronxbound's first thread in which he has made it clear that he cannot be bothered to learn anything about the actors (including their names) before posting about them and asking us to do his legwork for him. This has been going on for a bit now. At this point, we're just totally frustrated.

Bronxbound--leaving a playbill under your seat is like a sin. You shouldnt ever be allowed to see a broadway show again.

Ranaranad summed it up best: "Just a little insider info, for those of you who may not know..
When you step into a Principal role like this one, in a show that is a SMASH HIT and a major commercial success, they do not encourage very much "artistic license" when you take over the role."
Once a director leaves a production, the stage manager takes over the production helm, and his job is much too big to spend time developing a character based on a new actor's abilities. Professional actors who step into principle roles do not have much (if any) artistic freedom with new character development, especially in a hit show like "Wicked". JLT's interpretation is surprisingly fresh for what she was stepping into. Her understudy's interpretation is even more wildly different (and actually pretty terrible; I'm not sure what they were thinking there...). In any case, though, Ranaranad is completely correct in his/her post.

This thread is quite possibly one of the most entertaining ones ever - and that's not in a good way Bronx, so don't give yourself too much credit.
Everything I was going to say has already been said, but I would like to add that I find it extremely funny that first bronx asked WHY George Hearn got an applause, then probably thought he'd get jumped on so he added that, obviously, he knows who he is. If bronx truly knew who George Hearn was, as he claims, this thread would never have gotten to this point. I don't often bother responding directly to bronx anymore - that's why I waited this long - because he is SO dense that it's hard to get any point across to him. Why is a message board making me this frustrated? I need a cigarette.

How many common (i'll refrain from saying "normal" because some people thought that was offensive) theatregoers actually take their playbills?

Bronx, you're actually the only person I know that doesn't take them. I have thousands of playbills, dating back from the 1950's up to the present. My DAD even atleast brings his home, and that's saying a lot. If you're such a broadway fan, I can't imagine why you'd want to leave it at your seat. Plus, if you're not going to take it, atleast throw it in the garbage on your way out - those porters have a tough, tough job cleaning up that place.
