Does Brooklyn have a chance to score a Tony or two?

In my opinion, no, but there are others who would disagree.

If it is to win ANYTHING, it would be for Costumes, which I think is highly unlikely.

Thinking of it even POSSIBLY being TALKED about for a nomination of Best Book makes me sick to my stomach.

This has been discussed to death in two other posts already this week.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I don't see anyone bashing Brooklyn in this thread. We are just asking that the read the other hundred threads that have already discussed this.

NOT TO MENTION THE INTERESTING CONCEPT OF USING TRASH FOR A SCORE. GEE, LET ALONE FOR THAT THEY SHOULD GET THE NOMINATION re: Brooklyn in the running for a Tony?

Nope, no Brooklyn-bashing going on here, eh?

Seriously, I'd bet a nom for costumes & for Eden....winning's something else entirely.

It's eligible for nominations. If it will receive any is a different story.

Oh lord! This comment put me over the top.

I don't usually go after people, but please!!

First of all, no one bashed BKLYN (yet). But second and more importantly, we can bash it if we just to. Equal rights - the right to hate a show and the right to love a show.

"Yeah, well, you don't have to be mean." Yeah - well, you don't have to be nice. What goes around comes right back at you.

I have not seen the show, nor listened to the CD, so I have no comments directly about the show.

However, what ticks me off is that there are already two topics about BROOKLYN and it's "Tony chances." Continue in those discussions, don't clog the board with yet another thread.

You "only want to know if Brooklyn will win"? Well, how the hell should we know? No one will know until it's telecast live on television. There is strong competition for all catagories. Go to the dozen other Tony Speculation threads.

And pab - yes, another show has used trash as a script before. It's called Mamma Mia!

you people act like you're 5 and are probably all in high school. Chances are you don't have any background in theatre to make an educated opinion.
So don't try to
and stop harassing people because they like something you don't!!!!!!!!

Brooklyn is eligble to be nominated the Tony's. I highly, HIGHLY doubt it will get any.

I saw the show and enjoyed it. I thought the cast was great. I think if it will get nominated for anything it would be best costumes and best supporting actress, ramona keller, she was great! eden might got a nom too. Thats my opinion :)

Chances are you have no idea what backgrounds people have in theatre and just because their opinion does not mesh with yours does not mean it's not an educated one.

I'd say 5-year-olds in high school are pretty precocious, fengshui. Maybe you should listen to what they have to say. re: Brooklyn in the running for a Tony?

And no one harrassed or bashed or insulted until a certain someone got overly defensive. I'll be the first to say that people on this board are over-eager to be nasty regarding certain shows, but that wasn't really the case in this instance. In the beginning, at least.

Now that there is an open spot in the Best Actress category, I can see Eden getting a nomination, but she won't win. The show will win no awards.

mef, I was just thinking about that open slot. How about O'Hare in 'Light...'?

Open slot?

I was not aware the nominations were announced. I wasn't even aware voting had begun!

Please.
