Not to be a killjoy, but last week was the first week where Brooklyn went from a schedule of seven performances to eight, and where they didn't have heavy comps for reviewers and opening night. Time will tell...

At least 'Brooklyn' is creative and has poetic lyrics rather than Shaka-Laka Baby (darnit I now have that song stuck in my head lol!!!!)

People can say its a good show very easily, because its entertaining.
First of all, the performances are all quite top notch, and yes Eden Sceatches as some will say, BUT lets hear a lot of people give that much intensity to a G#. She is working with what she has been given, and so is ramona. And wheter we like it or not, its still slightly jaw dropping to watch someone hit that stuff live.
Now RAMONA. Can anyone see that show and not enjoy the cliche black performance she gives. All the classic Diva moments, its funy admit it.
The creativity on the set, the moving pieces all within a stable setting. The costumes made form garbage and rags, all true to the piece.
The story, is weak, yes the book is weak and it has american idol moments, BUT its supposed to be a sidewalk fairytale written by homeless uneducated people. If it was Les Miserables everyone would say its too complicated and not believable.
Therefore, I think its a great night out, amazing voices, totally servicable story that the creative teams served well to make it all mesh and be believable. I hope it does well too, and am by no means a shill, im not gettin a cut of the pay, and when i went i was comped too so i didnt comtribute, but i wish it well. Its new and different, and in the season of dead rock star musicals, i like to think its also quite refreshing.
