The show was 110-105 mins in New York.

RentBoy, what's your point? There are SO many ridiculous lyrics from shows that were hits on Broadway. You don't see how Brooklyn got so many fans, yet you NEVER even seen the show live! See it for yourself and THEN make up your mind... So many people bashed this show when it was on Broadway and they never even seen it! (And no, listening to the CD does not count)

How does the CD not count? It's a LIVE recording. And obviously I don't hate the show, I'm going to see it. I just don't see why you are that big of a fan of the show. It's not great theater. It is poorly written and it's not that the show has some bad lyrics, it's that the show is basically strung together with bad lyrics. Why do you like this show so much? I'm not bashing your opinion, obviously you like the show, that's cool. But why so much? What about it gets to you? I don't see how someone can really connect with the storyline.

First of all, the CD is not "live". It was recorded in a studio with live audience. The CD is around 70 minutes long, the show is around 110, so If you've listened to the CD, you can not make up your mind about the show.

Now, I (and other Brooklyn fans) love everything about the show. We love the music, storyline and all the creative set and costume design. The Broadway cast was fantastic and (from what I've seen so far) the tour cast is going to be great as well. I think the story is very moving, it may not "do" anything to you, but that is how I feel.

My taste in theater is not so different from others on this board even though it seems like I'm the only one who supports BKLYN here. Sure, I love Sweeney Todd and even enjoyed The Lieutenant of Inishmore, but you have to understand that Brooklyn is not high-art and you have to accept it for what it is.

You should really visit the fans forum if you still don't get why I (we) like the show so much. Anyway, hope you enjoy the show!

I'm going in with an open mind. Trust me, I get bombarded by people on this board because of my tastes as well. I just don't understand why people LOVE this show hardcore. But I'll write a review once I see this show. It should be interesting. And I do agree the cast is great and the sets / costumes are great, but the story needs some work.

I hate this show with a bloody passion. Its the only Cast Recording that has not one song I like on it. The songs are half screamed through and the music and lyrics sound like they were written by a 6 year old.

"I wouldn't let Esparza's Bobby take my kids to the zoo...I'd be afraid he'd steal their ice cream and laugh."- YankeeFan
"People who like Sondheim enjoy cruelty."-LuvtheEmcee

I'm glad you took the time to voice your opinion about the show in a thread dedicated to giving information about upcoming productions, and is obviously filled with many fans. I hope you feel like a big man now...

I was reading on the BKLYN forums that they cut "BKLYN in the blood" because they wanted to show to be shorter? Isn't the show already incredibly short? It doesn't even have an intermission.
