Is everyone as excited as me? I walked by and they were already rehearsing!
Surprised and disappointed in no Hamilton though. Thought they tried hard for not rich people to be able to catch a part of their magic

Who can actually go to any of these, on a Thursday afternoon? I'm jealous.
People who work nearby and tourists. I wonder too why Hamilton isn't performing.

Yea it sux that they are in the middle of the day during work hours. I actually requested the day off so I can go to the one on 8/11
My GUESS is: the park might not have wanted them: how could they control the inevitable, and INSANE crowd that would show up?
There is subway right there so maybe that is a way for people to go.
This would have been nice way for Hamilton to introduce the new cast to a friendly audience.

It's during the lunch hour. Anyone who gets a decent lunch break and works in the area can go.
Yeah that makes sense - would definitely be 10x more crowded if later in the day/evening. And imagine it with Hamilton...it would be unbearable.
And January, I was considering doing the same!
Book of Mormon has never been at Bryant Park. I wouldn't expect Hamilton be, either.
Ive been a number of times, and it's always been pretty croweded.

Alex Brightman and Sierra Boggess will host one show, I wonder if they will sing!

I don't know if $850 ticket prices is trying all that hard.
As they say, the proof is in the pudding.
In any case, it won't be missed. There are far better shows being offered in this series, which is always one of the nicest events of the summer.
I hope I'll be able to catch a few.

Bryant Park is always crowded at lunch time, regardless of whether there's free Broadway entertainment. You have to tackle people to get a table between noon and two, it seems.
Can somebody who is going today please report back and let us know if the show's leads performed? I've been a few times and I've seen understudies go on for vocally demanding roles like Elphaba, etc. This is certainly understandable as many performers rarely speak outside of the 8 shows, let alone sing. I would love to know if Cynthia Erivo is singing today.

For any one who has gone this year, can you tell me what's a good time to show up to get a good spot? what is the best spot? I'm assuming near the stage? But i've seen some posts that mention there are tables? I've never been nor seen the set up at Bryant Park but I'm going to next Thursday's show, appreciate any advice. Thanks!
the stage is in front of the big fountain, the seats are on the big grass field. There are no tables there, just chairs and grass. The tables are not really for show, they are off to the side for the regular people who go there to eat lunch.

What about the time? Is it necessary to be there as early as like 9am, or does it not start getting crowded until later?

" 9am? No that is way early. 10am or so, you can see the performers rehearse. It is the best. But the actual show does not start until 1230. If you get there at 12, you can still get close to stage
Do they still have a couple of very annoying photographers who feel they have to document the proceedings in minute detail and consequently block the view of everyone? I found them very distracting when I was there last. Plus, the bobbing and weaving heads ruin all the videos. (Man, I am crabby today!)
