Burt Bacharach's Daughter commits suicide...

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, January 5, 2007 - Nikki Bacharach, daughter of Burt Bacharach and Angie Dickinson, committed suicide, the songwriter and actress said in a statement Friday.
Nikki Bacharach, 40, suffered from Asperger's Disorder, a form of autism. She killed herself Thursday night at her condo, said Linda Dozoretz, a spokeswoman for the family.

"She quietly and peacefully committed suicide to escape the ravages to her brain brought on by Asperger's," the statement said.

The statement gave no details of the manner of death.

Born prematurely in 1966, Nikki Bacharach studied geology at Cal Lutheran University, but could not pursue a career in the field because of poor eyesight.

"She loved kitties, and earthquakes, glacial calving, meteor showers, science, blue skies and sunsets, and Tahiti," the statement said.

it's not off topic, she was an actress.

I'm so sad about this. I also have Asperger's Syndrome and it terrifies me that some people let this disorder lead them to a state of depression. It makes my life hard sometimes but I don't let it control my life either. It's just so unforunate that this kind of stuff happens everyday. The family is in my prayers.

i know this is a bit morbid, but to answer someone's question in this thread...she suffocated herself using a plastic bag and helium gas. hardly sounds quiet and peaceful to me...
and yes, my thoughts do go out to her family

How tragic.

Bacharach happens to be one of my all time favorite composers.

I listen to his songs on an almost daily basis.

His "Windows of the World" has taken on more significance with me nowadays with this senseless war that's raging on.

I hope he and Ms. Dickinson find the strength to get this through this.
