Hey folks, weigh in for real: For several years the Broadway On Broadway concert has ended with a sing-along of "New York, New York". In a nod to the new, this year's concert ended with "Empire State Of Mind", which is a platinum seller and pretty huge currently. Neither song hails from Broadway. So... opinions?

"New York, New York," for sure. "Empire State of Mind" was great, but I'm hoping they go back to NY, NY for next year.
Or go with "New York State of Mind." Billy Joel's officially a Broadway composer now.
I like "New York State of Mind". It is a much quieter song but I like Art Garfunkel's "A Heart in New York".
I have to say, I really wasn't all that impressed with the "Empire State" performance.
I thought that Empire State was really creative and done well, but I think that for the audience Broadway on Broadway tries to reach, New York, New York is better.
New York, New York. I've never liked Empire State of Mind. It's just Jay-Z bragging about himself.
BellatrixxLestrangee - i agree. Alicia Keys' acoustic version, "Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down" is sooo much better. Her song is more about the struggle of making it in NY and striving for your dreams. I get a lump in my throat every time i hear it.
