I never said anything about my "views" on the subject.

Genius.

Anybody else love watching a munkustrap meltdown?

Girl, I don't know how you hang around with Amanda and George with that thin skin of yours.

"Adam Pascal"

That was supposed to be a joke, the first male that popped into my head. I was posting it before you had posted that long thread that mentioned Adam Pascal. Ironic timing.

Meltdown? I'm glad that my interest in a topic and people's sick views is a meltdown. I'm just shocked that people can actually think that way, that's all.

I love when something I wrote over a week ago comes back up - and people try to use it against me. Do you care THAT much about what goes on in my life?

Papa, I'm curious - what have you heard about my tastes?

Seriously though, where did I state my views?

OH MY GOD. You DIDN'T state your view on the british thing.

I said:

"why don't you state your view on the topic."

you said:

"I already commented on the actual topic, genius."

i said:

"I know you said something about Laura Benanti. I was talking about your view of British actors."

MEANING, since you obviously need clarification, I said to begin with that instead of concentrating your energy on ripping me apart, you should just state your opinion. Not your opinion on who should replace her on Broadway, but that you should state your opinion on British actors coming to broadway. Then you kept saying you ddin't say anything about it. I know that. That's why I asked you to.

And if nothing can be repeated on a board with little eyes around, than you can CERTAINLY PM it to me, since you seem to know SO much about my personal life, and my sexual preferences. But that really just shows your immaturity, as does you taking my SN, a character from a musical, and turning it into a sex toy. That's funny. Like what, 5th Grade humour?

I'm not sure how wise it is to jump in on this, but...

Guys, lay off. Munkustrap made a comment (honestly, a valid one, IMO) about the idea of "importing" actors and about roles being "uncastable." Relax... he didn't do anything wrong. re: bway's mary poppins?

well, the actual topic is "who else could play MP other than LMK?" And Matt did state his opinion on the "actual topic." Of course, if there's another topic of conversation that merits discussion, then clarify it when asking others to state their opinion.

taboofreak! If we always casted roles that were meant to be who they were, then we'd be deprived of many great performances by actors who aren't cast to type. Would you only cast British actresses as Eliza Dolittle? Or only American actors as Skye Masterson? The latter would certainly take Ewan MacGregor out of the running for Donmar Warehouse's production of "Guys and Dolls."

That is true - it's just I can't see anybody apart from Laura in the role. Suppose you could call me biased!

Well, the big rumor before the London show was csat was Audra McDonald. I think she would be wonderful. She's due for a LEADING actress Tony, and this would be a great show for her.

Stephanie D'Abruzzo doesn't have the voice for it.

Laura Benanti's a good choice.

What about Jennifer Laura Thompson?

Well, Audra REALLY wants to do My Fair Lady at some point in her life, she's stated. I was hoping to see CM's My Fair Lady imported on these shores with her in it...

Oh, nevermind my earlier comment, THAT should be what she gets her leading actress Tony for. She would be stunning.

I can definitely see Audra in MY FAIR LADY, but not so much in POPPINS.

Well, Matt said before that NY casting was already complete....

LOL Idina Menzel. I can see her screaming thru The Rain In Spain.

I vote for Laura Benanti. Or Sweetie from Bombay Dreams.

I was just thinking... what about Martine McCutcheon? She was great in My Fair Lady, so she can obvisouly pull off another "Julie Andrews" role. I can see her doing marvelously in the role- she's surely got the pipes.

Knowing the way casting is going these days, most likely, it will be Bernadette Peters.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

I don't think Bernadette Peters would ever be in the running to do MY FAIR LADY. But you say "knowing the way casting is going these days," there could be someone far worse than Bernadette in MY FAIR LADY.

I would think they'd bring the current Mary over just because of the reviews she's been getting.

I'm sorry but IMO, nobody is better than Julie Andrews, even Laura Michelle Kelly. However that doesn't really matter now, does it.

BTW, the video clip doesn't work on your site.

I hate to bring this up, but Kristin Chenoweth has said that her dream role was Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady.

For all of you Chenoweth haters, if you thought she was annoying before, imagine her in Cockney.

Laura Michelle Kelly seems perfect for the role, but if they want to use an American actress (OR if she doesn't want to bring it over here) I can't help thinking that Rebecca Luker might be very good in the part. (Maybe its a Julie Andrews/Sound of Music thing?) I'm also an advocate of Jennifer Laura Thompson and MAYBE Laura Benanti. I don't know about her, I love her voice and she's beautiful, but I haven't yet been blown away by her. So I root for LMK.:)

There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.
