The movie soundtrack is awesome though, Ann-Margret is the best Kim McAfee ever!!
Really? You think Kim should be a sex kitten?
Please be kidding...
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
BBB was opened as a limited run. Shortly after opening it came out that tickets were on sale until April but they announced an official closing for January 24. I cannot remember if that was the original closing date or not. I don't think it is and that it actually extended by a week
They did indeed extend, and, if memory serves me well, they announced the extention the same day the (relatively negative) reviews came out. Then, of course, when they realized they had exhausted their subsriiption base, and word of mouth had killed this weak production, they had to pull back the closing date. I don't think it had much to do with John Stamos not extending, as I believe there could have been a number of "name" actors that would have easily been better AND as big of a draw.
Yeah I figured as much. I can admit that it was a weak production (due to the stunt casting in my opinion), but I still absolutely loved it just because it's such a fun show no matter how much you screw it up (I also knew nothing about the show, so I did not have any high standards walking in).
To the poster who questioned my liking of Ann-Margret: Yes I do love her! I don't care if she acted like a "sex kitten," I loved it nonetheless simply for her voice and the persona she brought to the character. It's not like you have to agree with me though.

I mean this in all seriousness (because I do enjoy Ann-Margret (no second a) and usually most of the bad movie musicals), but by voice and persona, do you mean smokey and big boobs...cause not a lot of acting was goin on there.
I really don't know, I just love her. It's just one of those movies that I sat down and watched without critiquing (which I usually do), and I just remember her as my favorite part. I thought her opening/closing "Bye Bye Birdie" was the best part of the movie, just because it was so adorable and I do love her vice, for w/e reason.
"It's sad that so many shows aren't making it."
If you think it's so sad then feel free to give all of those shows the thousands upon thousands of dollars needed to create, record, market, and distribute the CAST RECORDINGS (What are "soundtracks"?).
There....Problem solved! Now we just need to cover your boxers and I'll be all set.

Susan Watson, who originated the role of Kim MacAfee in the 1960 production, was 22 at the time. Ann-Margret was the same age, 22 when she played the role in the 1963 film version. Chynna Phillips was 27 when she played Kim in the incredibly boring 1995 TV remake. None of these actresses looked or acted 16 and were not required or directed to be so in their performances. Allie Trimm, 15, who plays Kim in the present production, is the first actress who is close to the character's real age and based on what I saw and heard, is the worst singer and least convincing of the four. In fact, except for being enormously more beautiful than Watson, Ann-Margret played Kim very close to the way Watson did on stage in the production I saw with two exceptions. The opening and closing "Bye Bye Birdie" song, which was not in the stage version, and most notably in "Gotta Lot of Livin' To Do", where director George Sidney clearly departs from credibility and displays Ann-Margret's sexiness in a way that was not in character for a 16 year old, at least not a 16 year old in 1963. This was probably willfully done to capitalize on Ann-Margret's real sexy persona in the hope of increasing the film's box office potential and the film of Bye Bye Birdie was a gigantic hit, one of the biggest of its time. I agree that Ann-Margret is the best singer to ever perform the role on any recording of the score.
thank god they arent...if i never hear gina gershon sing again it will be too soon
O my gosh tom (claude hooper), she wasn't THAT bad...well she kind of was, but I don't care. Allie Trim was awesome too, and the poster who commented on it was right, she did act the closest to the actual age.
And to the person w/ The Office profile picture: Was there really a need to be bitchy? I mean come on, even the people I meet on IMDB don't lash out like that...I don't understand the necessity to be mean just for the sake of being mean.
Then use some common sense when composing your thoughts. xoxo
How are my thoughts not composed? I said it was sad that shows weren't lasting, but I never insulted or condemned BBB for not putting out a cast recording (sorry about saying soundtrack, like I said, I'm a newbie). You just kind of jumped on me for something I never implied.
What does IMDB have to do with anything?
YES, there are some people here that are brutally honest (doesn't mean they are right) and will not censor their thoughts. But we also have some incredibly knowledgeable and critical people on here...which is infinitely better than loving everything just because it exists.
I'd rather disagree with someone intelligently, than be in blissful ignorant agreement.
IMDB has the same message board set-up, that's where my comparison came from. I agree with what you're saying...but I wasn't being ignorant, I was being attacked for something that I never said and then again for my clothing. It just seems unnecessary to fight and snap at each other, clearly it's a pet peeve of mine.
I have met some people that have disagreed w/ me intelligently though. For instance, on another board someone corrected me on saying soundtrack instead of cats recording when I got all worked up about being corrected for it.
The clothing cracks are just jokes. If you want to hang around here, you are going to need to lighten up...as well as learn the personalities of the posters. Some are being funny, and yes, some are being nasty. Ignore what you can, defend what you feel you must. But in the end, stay true to yourself.
Okay, thanks.
Well I'm just going to segway out of this and say that if I don't find some version of Nolan's "Honestly Sincere" and "One Last Kiss" I'm going to go crazy.

If you do "go crazy" please do it in a place that has internet access. Your postings are so incredibly off-center that they have me howling!
I'm with Will: Ann-Margret is the sole highlight of the BBB film and soundtrack. But WHAT a highlight! The definition of sex kitten. Is that Kim? No, but Janet Leigh isn't Spanish either. The film isn't concerned with reality or making dramatic sense, and for that matter neither is the revival. A-M 4eva.

One is left to ponder what the BBB movie would have been like if they went with their original choice for Kim: Loretta Swit.

>>"Well I'm just going to segway out of this..."<<<
What's a "segway"? Isn't it some sort of scooter?
Probably, but unless I'm totally misinformed it's also a completely random conversation changer and/or diversion that I use to get out of trouble or awkward situations.

"Awkward situations"? Like the ones you've been in ever since you joined BWW?
I think the word you're trying to use is "segue".
How old are you, Will? 12?
You mean segue.
