^^I hope so as well. I do know they do the half-price student ticket close to curtain, but half off of $126 is still a little steep for most students (though most in the area may know about Hiptix).
I just wish there was a little more variety to the ticket pricing for those wishing to purchase ahead of time, but alas, it is a name-show that can sell I'm sure.

Posted: 5/29/09 at 5:23pmTHIS IS VERY UPSETTING!!!! It makes me angry! Roundabout Theatre Company receives donations, tax breaks, government money, and breaks galore from the unions including being able to pay actors about 30% less than commercial Broadway scale. They are now producing an obviously commercial show and charging 135 a ticket on weekends with back mezz going for 90!!! And going up to 140 during peak time with 100 for back mezz! Where do they get off. What makes me so angry is that every other show will follow suit and Roundabout has no business charging these prices. How dare they be the ones raise the musical ticket price with the breaks they receive.

I'll pull out my HS VHS tape of our school production. My performance of Birdie still brings tears to eyes.
I suffered through the Tommy Tune production out of town, no way would I pay to see this again, especially those prices.

I hope PG reads this
According to him, the only one who ever decries high prices is me. Until people boycott en masse, the madness will continue. Good thing there is a recession going on it would be more. Watch God Of Carnage & Billy jack up there prices after their expected Tony wins.
Mrs R wants to see Carnage but agrees the prices are steep for an 1 1/2 hour show no matter how good it is. Without decent offerings, we will miss many more but that's life. I wonder how tourists will take to this nonsense. Word of Mouth will start spreading to shun Broadway because of escalating prices. God knows what the show with Jackman & Craig & Spiderman will cost. You will need a bank loan for tickets.
I am sure glad the states tax on admissions did not go thru or we would be paying more for tickets (stifling a laugh). They will also probably have the gall to charge a facility fee - for a new theater no less.
Barnum was right & old Honest Abe was wrong.

Posted: 5/29/09 at 9:32pmSadly the boycott of things because prices go up rarely if ever pans out. Disney, etc. have yet to close as a result of constantly increasing prices. The bottom line is if people want to go somewhere/see something, they will pay. And the producers know that.
LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!
