I just got finished directing the US college premiere at Ithaca College, anyone who wants to see pictures can click the link. We used blood too, for anyone whose wondering Carrie The Musical - US College Premiere Photos
Songsmddanceman that video that's been circulating is the Cultural Arts Playhouse production in Long Island. Currently we do not have any clips on the net, but our staging was quite a bit different lol
LOS ANGELONIANS and all other SOUTHERN CALIFORNIANS and POSSIBLE TOURIST in LA during this show's scheduled production- BUY TICKETS IMMEDIATELY if not sooner. You are hearing this from somebody who saw the original Stratford production with Barbara Cook, THREE performances on Broadway with Betty Buckley and Lindsay Hately. I have a CD of the off-Broadway revival that I am somewhat disappointed with. A note to other musical theater fans- I realize I'm jumping the gun on tellin you to buy tickets before TTG has really filled us in on what they're going to do with their production, but I'm tellin you, if they come anywhere near to what The RSC did with this in England, or what the Broadway producers did, you are in for one rollicking good night at a performance of this FANTASTIC musical! Maybe even Ken Mandlebaum (whose book I love) will come out to LA and get to write a new book on "shows that were flops on Broadway but became hits in LA!"
MB, is there any kind of preview available of the production design? I've wanted to do this show for years, and I"m always curious to see how others handle it.
That audition notice seems to call for a much bigger cast than the -- what was it? -- six high school students at the Lortel?
This is probably a very good idea, too: "CARRIE THE MUSICAL will be presented as an audience immersive, environmental production in a unique site specific theatrical setting in the arts district in downtown Los Angeles."
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
I'm not sure what "sit down production" really means here. This isn't a tour sitting down in one city. It's like all LA shows, whether Waiver or paid - it hopes to have a run - I'm sure it's pre-funded to have a certain amount of performances and then time will tell about everything else.
"A bit of a shameless plug as I'm in some way connected to the production. But I think its going to be a pretty exciting staging... "
Now, now, you've posted enough stuff about your productions that you shouldn't be disingenuous :) You're more than "in some way" connected to the production since you are very much key to it.
