Just heard the cast recording and all I can say is WOW!!!! Kudos to Marc Shaiman and Scott Whitman for this wonderful treasure! Aaron Tveit's voice sounds incredible! The songs are so witty and clever. Love it!
I drive 30 miles each way to work and it has been on repeat since we bought the soundtrack. It is very well done. Saw the show twice and the soundtrack represents the show very well.
On a side note : the Priscilla soundtrack is as well done. Also represents the live experience very well. It would be nice if the HAIR soundtrack came out as good as Catch me and Priscilla.
Has anyone who pre-ordered from Sh-k-boom received shipping notification? I don't like this releasing on itunes before sending out preorders trend.
I ordered from Sh-k-boom and received an email saying that my item would be shipped June 9th.
I saw the show the night before it opened and loved it and was surprised that it took the beating it did from critics. I think what they created was an old fashioned Broadway Musical and I for one love the CD- have not stopped listening to it all week and I think the lyrics are very witty. Especially love Little Boy Be A Man.
On a side note that I'm sure I will take a drubbing for- while I have not seen Book Of Morman and grew up in their back yard (Palmyra New York) I find the album to be dull in parts. In fact from what I've listened to, there are too many songs IMO that are trying WAY too hard to be "shocking".
I'm going to wait to buy it on the theatre when I see the show on June 15, but it is really tempting to purchase it on iTunes right now.

It usually takes me a few listenings to music to really start to like or love a song or score, but when I heard Fly Fly Away for the first time in the theatre, I was immediately hooked. I have this song on constant replay and can't get it out of my mind. I enjoyed the entire show - not a landmark by any stretch, but an enjoyable night in the theatre, but Fly Fly Away has to be my favorite song of this season.
I equate it to I Can Wait, cut from the movie Hairspray - another song that I immediately loved and played continuously after getting the cd.
Just thought I'd share. Now I have to go and listen to Kerry's live verson of the song at Macy's.
