Just bought the cast recording from iTunes. It sounds amazing. If you've seen the show I suggest listening to the cast recording. Love the music.
Gah, you beat me to it!
Having not seen the show, I do enjoy the score. HOWEVER, I much prefer the demo version of LIVE IN LIVING COLOR (the one on the CD that came in the mail).

Probably starting a thread about the cast recording.
Does anybody know when the CD version of the cast recording will be released? I want to get an actual hard copy of the show rather than just mp3s
It really sounds amazing. This score certainly deserved a Tony nomination, but this year there were a lot of great scores. Some of the lyrics are quite clever.

I like what I have listened to thus far.
Does anybody think 'Don't Be a Stranger' starts a bit abruptly? It almost seems like the file downloaded funny for me.

It sounds fine to me...it's how it sounds in the show.
I think "Sister Act" is far more pastiche then this. Though, I like them both despite of some pastiche styles.

ok, bwayfan7000. Thanks :)
And Aaron's Goodbye sounds amazing. So much better than the two times I saw him in Seattle.
I love the SISTER ACT score, but this is far superior.
And Women on the Verge left me walking out humming, well, nothing. I definitely think Catch Me was superior to that, although I also think BBAJ was superior to both as well as Sister Act.
I would take Women on the Verge and Sister Act over Catch Me If You Can any day. I find the score for Women on the Verge to be enthrallingly original and beautiful.
I love both the SISTER ACT and CATCH ME scores. Both are far superior to the SCOTTSBORO score.
It should've been a toss-up between SCOTTSBORO and VERGE (and probably BLOODY BLOODY) for that fourth nod.
I really like this score, and the show was very pleasant. It reminded me of a middle-brow Jule Styne or Cy Coleman musical from the early 1960s or mid 1960s. There's nothing wrong with having one of those on Broadway-- there used to be plenty of them fifty years ago.
The album is really very nice. I'm glad the score was preserved. I think I enjoy it more than Yazbek's score, which I've also grown to appreciate.
Sorry-- double post!

Absolutely freaking love it. The orchestrations are incredible, very deserving of the Tony Nod :)
Love it! Downloaded it when I woke up this morning and have been listening to it non-stop as I have spent my day off cleaning.
I really think this is one of the best shows that opened this season. I loved Mormon and Scottsboro, but there was something about this show that really hit a special chord in me. I've seen it twice already (albeit, both of those times were comped), but am looking at TDF to see when I can see it again. "Don't Break The Rules" and "Goodbye" are true gems.

I love this show and ever since I saw the 1st preview I have been humming the music. I am so happy to finally have this recording.
