Libertarian here. In theory, I agree with you. In practice, I'd rather have our tax dollars go to support the performing arts than fund some ridiculous war (which always seems to happen whether the president is a Democrat or a Republican). And subsidies for theatrical ventures would always be minuscule compared to corporate welfare for sporting events.
If you're arguing, in theory, for an end to State coercion, I'm with you. If you're saying we should accept that result in the performing arts before you eliminate it in every other area of life, then I'll tell you to go **** yourself.
