When I first saw the name of this thread I was immediately saddened. I liked her performance, even if I cannot compare her to anyone else.
Why hate on her?

If she couldn't sing, she wouldn't be starring in a broadway show, I respect your matter of opinion, but keep it to yourself if it won't help anything.

Huh? Is she not allowed to be critiqued? You don't know me. I back up every statement I make. I saw her in the show. I was there right up front. I thought she was AMAZING!! I just wish she didn't sing. I don't think that is being cruel. She is a fantastic actress and dancer. I think a lot of people would take that as a compliment.

If you can't handle honest opinions you might want to stay away from my posts. Sorry.

She may not be as good a singer as Donna McKechnie, but she certainly can sing.

yeah i agree she is not an AMAZING singer...im sure her dancing is much better...though i do not feel she is the weakest singer in the show. She has a very difficult song that is probably a little out of her range...as a non singer first i think she does a pretty good job tackling the song the best she can. Its a pretty well known fact that though chorus line is a triple threat show...they are looking for people who are dancers first...or at least dance as well as people who are primarily dancers...before anyone gets to sing or dance at the audition they have to do doubles on each side. There are plenty of people who cannot sing as well as this cast and they call themselves singers first and so that these people are probably dancers first is amazing! I agree..her singing leaves you wanting a bit more in the song...but thats who the casting directors chose and her qualities are what the directors wanted.

and guys give this person a break...they just wanted to discuss this...maybe they didnt do it the best way...but its just a review.

Well I saw her in Chicago first and she was an amazing singer, so I guess her song in A CHORUS LINE is just not for her.

Saw her in a few things & sounded OK to me

Melanie Griffith & David Hasselhoff are quite another story in deed. Something scary for Halloween - both of them in a Broadway musical

I wasn't calling you a kid. I was merely commenting on your immature comments. As an adult, you should know better than to start a thread saying someone sucks, which is basically what you did.

She is absolutely allowed to be critiqued. But have you ever read a professional review that said "This woman cannot sing" and then goes on to give a degrading example. No. I'd love to hear your opinions and your reviews, but do it tactfully and responsibly.

When I saw ACL, I found her to have a functional voice at best, and her acting was nonexistent.

And people are critiqued on this board ALL the time. Why is this different?

Rath - because he started a review thread and gave a lengthy description of how she cannot sing.

And she IS different.You must've saw her on and off night. I think her acting was great, her dancing fantastic, and her singing was fine.
