I want to see more clips! This looks amazing. I want to see it so badly.
I just got out of work and was anticipating the reviews all night... aahh...
Why do people care so much about this show? I don't get it. I just logged in and waded through the desperate chatter after Margo's post of the AP story. I'm mystified. You'd think folks were either giving birth or investors. Honestly, this is a blip on the season's slate of shows. On all of the other most recent "review threads," I don't think I've seen this kind of anxiety. MichaelBennett summed it up really well after the early previews. Why are people surprised? Can someone help me understand the point here?
Well I don't care what the critics say. I saw it last week and loved it. Got to meet Raul after the show, what a sweetheart.
Well, people really like it and they want it to do well. I don't by ANY means think that condones the ridiculous, manic behavior on here, but I don't think it's so simple as "well, it sucks, so stop caring," you know? Because a lot of people did feel really moved by it.

"Is anyone else fairly annoyed with the reviews thus far that just constantly compare it to Sweeney Todd?"
They're both Sondheim shows, and both done by a distinctive director utilizing a similar approach. I think the comparisons are inevitable - and to some extent, valid.

Haven't you people read any of Brantley's past reviews? If this weren't a Sondheim show and he didn't like it..(ie. Mary Poppins)...the acidly-sarcastic-queeny-pretentious-cocktail-party quips would be flying. But this IS Sondheim. Sondheim is GOD to Brantley. Even if he dislikes a Sondheim show, as he did with Bounce, he has a tendency to tiptoe around his criticisms. My guess is this review will fall somewhere between mixed, but then again not harsh.. and a flat out rave...and I'm just going on my impression of the most annyoyingly predictable critic there is.
It sure sounds like a rave to me!
An excellent review, and some wonderful, well-deserved praise for Raul!
The necessity of having to form a new thread cracks me up -- it's like Margo is the dad who went out and left the kids home alone and the kids all misbehaved while he was gone!

Why was my post deleted?
It went like this:
You all should get in a circle and chant the lyrics of "Not Getting Married Today"
"Oh, the 6-year-old will totally pan it."
They all pwayed their own instwuments which was weawwy weird. They smoked cigawettes and waughed. I didn't know what the heck the weird wady was saying. Bobby is weawwy siwwy. It was weawwy bowing (and that's boring just for the record).
And the weird lady is the woman who sings "Not Getting Married Today."
