Corpus Christi, originally produced by The Manhattan Theatre Club in 1998, is a retelling of the New Testament set partially in modern day Corpus Christi, Texas. Joshua, the Jesus figure, returns to the world as the Son of God, but still must face all the trials and tribulations of a gay man in small city Texas.
The show is directed by Adam Fitzgerald, Producer of Crooked for Arielle Tepper's Summer Play Festival and recipient of the Brass Tacks Theatre Company's Award for Outstanding Achievement in Directing. Corpus Christi is being produced by founding kef productions members Lori Prince (called "a revelation" by John Simon for her role in Manhattan Theatre Club's Sarah Sarah) and Michael Poignand (NYIFF Award Winner).
kef productions is an independent producing company that helps small theatre companies and individual artists produce singular works. Rather than predetermine a season, kef looks for projects fueled by the desire of the individual artist. kef productions strives to raise standards and produce theatre that is exciting and relevant to both the audience and the artists.

Aaron is unspeakably fabulous as Judas...I saw him in Corpus Christi out here in L.A. and I have to say it's the best work I've ever seen him do.
Best of luck to you guys! Come back after the run and let us know how it went.

Jesus Christ, can't we go ONE WEEK with out a freaking RobbieJ "Love Me, Love Me" thread? Win a damn Tony and maybe you will be worth the space your tired old shows take up on this board.
Oh, never mind, Shill on, Bitch.
By the way, has anyone heard the demo for the Musical version of this play? I think it is called "The New Corpus Christy Minstrels." It is lovely.

Posted: 7/11/05 at 12:51pmRobbie, how DO you find out about this stuff? I never saw it on the equity website or I might have considered auditioning (though I'm WAY too old) I love this show and I hope you have a great time doing it. I'll be out of town unfortunately, so I won't be able to attend - but break a leg.

red,
A dear friend from college is the director. If I had to depend on the kindness of strangers, I'd be a singing waiter at some restaurant in Bergen County, NJ!

Did you, G??
I was asked to do it, but had a trip planned, so I missed out. Luckily, I was asked again, and this time wouldn't miss it for the world! There are some terrific actors working on this and I'm thrilled to be with them.

Yep, the performances were wonderful, and Aaron Lohr was outstanding.
I actually heard on Saturday that you're a new addition to the cast. Seems like a great company. I'll be there on the 19th.

Posted: 7/11/05 at 1:39pmWish I could see it! I played Judas in the show about five years ago. The first half is wonderful, but it starts to fumble in the second half. Fascinating show, nonetheless.

Well, I hope I get to meet you afterwards, G.
Have I mentioned I'm playing John the Baptist. It's taking everything inside me not to sing 'Preeeeeeepare ye, the way of the Lord!'

You mean the show where you share an open-mouthed kiss with a hottie that looks like Andrew Keegan???
Don't you worry, Minnie. I'll pimp your ass out!

bway, yes, yes it is! I work for the Cathedral of Hope, the world's largest liberal Christian church with a predominantly lesbian and gay outreach.
Although, as progressive as we are, I will be producing it in a separate space!
