Hi everyone,

I'm seeing Cabaret on Saturday at 2pm. Our bus gets in around 11:30 and we leave at 6pm. That leaves us 2.5 hours before the show and 1.5 hour after. I'm not familiar with what's around the theater. Any places you'd recommend for lunch/dinner that would work given the time frames we have?

Our bus drops us off and picks us up at 31st and 8th.

Thanks!

With such little time, you'd probably be best off just grabbing something from McDonald's.

Err, I never eat in the theater district since it's cheaper to eat in my hood, but you can pretty much have a nice lunch in a lot of places within 90 minutes.

I'd recommend brunch at Vynl before the show. It's at the corner of 9th and 51st, so only about a five-minute walk from Studio 54. I'd go straight there when your bus gets in, though. Service is pretty quick, but there can be a wait.

I highly recommend Toloache at 251 W 50th Street. One of NY's best Mexican restaurants.

The key here is DEFINITELY going directly to lunch so that you are seated by 12....places will get incredibly crowded between 12 and 12:30.

If you get in by noon-ish, nearly every place will have you out in plenty of time to make the matinee.

There's a great sushi place at 45th and 8th, Kodama. It has recently changed hands, though, and while I had no problems the last two times, others have reported issues.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I love Don Antonio on 50th and 8th, so a great location from Studio 54. They have really amazing unique tasting neapolitan style pizza.

I also second that Toloache is excellent!

Don Antonio is one of my very favorite places to go. Absolutely delicious food!

I'm still laughing at the thought of going to McDonalds as a tourist in New York City. LOLZ.

Bourbon Street on 46th between 8th and 9th. Great food and drinks that won't break your wallet.

I went to Characters right across the street from Babaret and it was quick we sat at the bar and got quite the selections of appetizers and salads. Best part is if you are running a little late you just walk across the street. Use the restroom before you get to the theater.
