Caissie performed at the "Wicked Day" celebration in san fran as glinda...does anyone have any info about why she'd now be glinda after voluntarily leaving the role of elphaba?
it's great to see she's performing again...maybe she'll be the only actress to have played both glinda and elphaba?...

In Germany someone played both roles.
I loved her as Elphaba but I would be thrilled to see her back in Wicked as any role.

^She sounds really great in that video. I love her voice and she's so cute! I honestly didn't think I would like her that much, but I really loved her as Elphaba.
What Glinda song did she do? Is there a video of it?
Anyone know who will be opening the San Fran production after the LA one closes?

i'm sorry
i guess the names in the photos were just reversed and the photos were taken from odd far away angles so i didn't know for sure if it was caissie.
but it appears from the vid. that caissie is once again elphaba and that is so AMAZING!!!
thanks for the help.

Caissie was the LA Elphaba for about 5 months, and then left in May for health reasons. Hopefully, her health has recovered enough for her to return to the role for the San Francisco company. I saw her last show in LA, and it was AMAZING.
They didn't make an announcement at the event today about who is opening San Francisco, but one would assume Caissie and Emily Rozek would be the likely choices. Then again, it's not yet known who will closing the LA company as Elphaba either (though many have said Eden will be returning), so who knows?

Posted: 10/2/08 at 12:38amActually they did make an announcement, Caissie Levy and Emily Rozek will open San Francisco. This came from the mouth of David Stone at the event so it's pretty reliable. One wonders if Teal Wicks will return to being a standby for Caissie...

I dunno that Caissie has the right voice for Glinda and she definitely doesn't have that girly girl energy. It would be interesting though!!
So, wait, are we saying she had nodes?? If so, that blows! I hope she feels better.

I don't know if it was nodes, but there are all sorts of reasons why someone might leave/take a vacation from a production for vocal reasons. Sometimes people just get vocal fatigue and need to rest their voice for a while. Doing Elphaba eight times a week has got to be like a vocal marathon.
Also, using your voice in ways that you are not used to (especially if you are doing unhealthy things) can mess things up for a while (or in the worst cases, permanently). I recently played Bob Ewell in "To Kill a Mockingbird" and created a voice for the character that I wanted to sound damaged from a lifetime of heavy smoking and drinking (on top of the lower-class Southern dialect), and even though I did it for only three weeks, after the show ended it took about the same amount of time for my voice to feel normal again.
