Call backs?

Ok, please bear in mind that I am a freshman college student majoring in theatre as you read this.

I auditioned for the role of Male Greek Chorus in the college's production of 'How I Learned to Drive' today. And I was told that I would get an e-mail telling me basically yea or nay. But instead I got this:

"Thank you for auditioning for the UALR production of How I Learned to Drive. We will need to see you again for call backs tomorrow at 1:50 for the part of Male Chorus. Please be at least 15 minutes early and be prepared to stay for an hour after your audition. We will see you tomorrow. Thank you."

S0....can anyone simplify this for me? Thanks!

what do you mean simplify it? you should do exactly as they say if you want to get in. just be prepared at 1:35. get there even a few minutes earlier if you want... and don't schedule anything else you may have to do until around 3:30

But does that mean they've narrowed down to other people also trying out for this role and they want to see us at that time? Read my quote at the bottom! Now why don't I understand again?

it could be that they need to see you again for a few different reasons. it could be between you and some other people...they might want to just get a better idea of your voice and hear you sing again...callbacks are not a bad thing. you probably have a higher chance of getting in than if you weren't asked to come back and they just left you hanging for a little while. don't worry :)

Call backs are a good thing. That means that they see you in a certain role and want to see you audition specifically for that role. You still might have other people you're auditioning against, but you've gone a step further than the first audition. Think of it as getting an interview: you've survived the application process, and though there are other people there vying for the same job, you just got that much closer to getting the job. Hope this helps

Having just graduated from college, and been through this kind of thing many, many times, I can tell you never to try to read into ANYTHING. You'll just drive yourself crazy!

Be prepared for them to ask you to do anything too, HILTD is an amazing play with tons of roles for the Male chorus so they will most likey ask you to preform a bunch of diffrent ages.... everything from middle schooler to Grandfather

Well at the audition yesterday, I auditioned as Grandfather and as Jerome. But you're right- this is an amazing play. It was either try out for this or Shakespeare's 'Comedy of Errors'. And I'm going to stick with my better acquainted....
