No long winded explaining needed here. Simple post a sentence or two on why you enjoyed THE DROWSY CHAPERONE and leave it at that.
It made me laugh, loud and often. It left me with a winning sense of joy.

Came into the show without any hype or expectation in LA. Left the show with lots of laughs and a smile on my face, since the show's got a lot of heart and a great cast.

It's the most original, refreshing musical I've seen in nearly a decade.
EDIT: And I was deeply moved by the character of "Man In Chair." I embrace anyone who's as passionate about a long-lost musical as he is.
The Drowsy Chaperone is that rare show which appeals to people who love musicals as well as those who don't. The reason: it admits (unapologetically) to the limitations of the musical comedy genre while embracing and adoring it at the same time.
It's also a laugh riot.

I just got back from the Sat. eve performance. And yes, I thought it was so much fun.I've heard complaints about the score but I loved it and will buy the cd.

So much fun for musical theatre lovers! I laughed ridiculously hard, and I was truly moved by Man In Chair's love of the art form. It reminded me of myself and my mother listening to cast albums at home in the afternoons.
The monologue at the very beginning is beyond hysterical and I can't get "I am Adolpho" out of my head. I can't wait for the cast recording to come out.
I saw it in LA, and I loved it. Original and hilarious! I love the score. "As we stumble along..." Beth Leavel's faces are super funny. And as the Man in the Chair says "Musicals let you get away when you're feeling blue..."
I saw it Friday night, lottery tickets, front row center...OUTSTANDING! After seeing other shows this season and last, I have found a permanent place for this musical on my list of favorites. It's witty, clever, with amazing performances and while sometimes underused, an amazing cast. The concept is original...something LACKING in most every other show this season. Bob Martin, having been the real life groom, has all of the honesty and feeling nailed in for the love of his musical. I heard someone say it's musical-theatre-crack for musical theatre addicts. I'll be going back again and again. Um. In case you couldn't tell, I liked it.

It made me laugh and, yes, it made me cry. Granted, I'm a big baby, but I thought the final image was incredibly touching. My favorite new musical since Caroline.
It's pure, hilarious, heartbreaking, hysterical joy. I saw the show knowing NOTHING about it, and from the opening monologue, which has at least three full belly laughs before the curtain even goes up, you are drawn into the life of one of the most original and real characters ever written for musical comedy. Everything about this show works because we see it all through his gleeful, pitiful, petulant, imperious, pathetic, enthusiastic eyes. Bob Martin is a comic wonder to behold.
It is unpretentious and unassuming. I love the original concept because I will be the Man in The Chair in another 20 years; now I'll have a reference point when my family thinks I'm going crazy.

Totally original, and watching "Man in Chair" made me realize why I love the theatre so much !
First Broadway show in a long time that seems to be filling its pocket with heart instead of cash.
It was the only song and dance musical I've ever seen that made me cry.

WHAAAAAAAAAT?
Nah, j/k.
I came in not knowing anything about Chappy...but I came out with tears in my eyes and my heart enlightened!
My wife says I remind her of the Man in the Chair when she met me
I can relate to him in many ways. Broadway LP's, old building & fuses continually blowing
Was it me or did the apartment set look like it was recycled from In My Life ?

Went with no expecations. Loved the blend of the flavor of an old time musical with a modern sensibility. I was ultimately very moved and simultaneously entertained.

I bought tickets for two more performances the very evening I saw it. I can't wait to see it again...and then the next time.
Saw this on TDF & paid $ 65 for 2 tickets
We seen it and will move on to something else. Regretfully, we see different shows as opposed to the same ones over & over. If one has unlimited resources I guess that is an option but we don't so we show a show once or in rare cases twice
It transports you somewhere special and entertains you while you're there.
Very refreshing show after seeeing Lestat and 3 Days of Rain. Saw Wicked in Philly yesterday, and it reminded me what a good show is really like. And The Drowsy Chaperone, though not as good as Wicked or even Jersey Boys, is a good show and worth seeing!
