"Camelot" on PBS!

"Audra is wonderful, but I don't think I've ever seen her do comedy"

She was funny in Carousel. In Act 2 she played Carrie as more of a shrew and it was funny because she was sweet in Act 1.

I really can't imagine anyone actually making a better Guenevere than Rachel York. I say this from a completely unbiased position of course re: 'Camelot' on PBS!

But oh, I totally agree that her performance needs to be seen, and she comes across GREAT on TV. (Again, no bias...)

"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

I'd love to see Rachel York reprise her role. She and, yes, James Barbour were phenominal.

Cast is announced.

Gabriel Byrne, left, will play King Arthur, with the rising opera star Nathan Gunn as Lancelot, Christopher Lloyd as Pellinore and Marc Kudisch as Sir Lionel. A spokesman for the Philharmonic said Marin Mazzie was in “advanced negotiations” to play Queen Guenevere.

Well, those are some interesting choices.

Love Gabriel Byrne, but he's no Richard Harris. re: 'Camelot' on PBS!

Hmm. Gabriel Byrne. Not sure what I think about that. Guess we'll have to wait and see. What happened to Audra?

Sweet! I love Marin Mazzie. I'm so glad this is going to be broadcast.

Oh, those are interesting casting choices! I have tickets for May 9th and am so excited!

The New York Philharmonic presented 'My Fair Lady' last year with Kelsey Grammer as Henry Higgins and Kelli O'Hara as Eliza. It was sublime!

It's doomed.

Marin Mazzie is a great choice for Guenevere! I'm so glad that a great actor like Byrne will be tackling Authur. BUT, why would you cast Marc Kudisch in Camelot and NOT let him sing If Ever I Would Leave You!!!!!

I am heart-broken that Kudisch will be involved in this and NOT sing that song, jewishboy.

I meant to say before, I think Christopher Lloyd will be a great Pellinore! He's one of my favorite characters. I'm glad they got somebody good for him.

Pass out the Centrum Silver. Byrne and Mazzie are too old for those roles.

Sounds interesting. I ADORE Marin's work, but I am really bummed not to see Rachel. Watching her perform "Before I Gaze At You Again" was like a master class in acting/song interp. Ah well - at least it live on in memory!

I hope they keep "I Loved You Once in Silence." I'd love to hear Mazzie's rendition of the song.
