He used Hamilton as his example ‚ pointing out that top-tier seats ran as high as $1,500 on Broadway last fall, while the West End production was charging around $365 for comparable seats. That's a fourfold difference for the exact same show and performers. As he put it, a ticket under £100 in London "hardly gets you into the foyer in New York."

Is there any hope?

Come on Flash.  It wasn't the exact same show when Broadway had Leslie Odom Jr., the primary reason for the return to skyrocketing prices.

Just popping in to say that this new user is not Bway Flash.

(Also, ticket prices are too high and I agree that the Hamilton comparison isn't the most apples to apples comparison).

My bad and I apologize.  Multiple post from a new account at the same time in a somewhat similar voice/style led me to think that was the case.

Cam Mac hasn't produced an original musical in over a decade now.  I know he was close friends with Sondheim, but I wonder if they ever disagreed with that...

Mackintosh has produced only 3 new musicals in 30 years:

Martin Guerre (1996)

The Witches of Eastwick (2000)

Betty Blue Eyes (2011)

Everything else he's done has been a revue or a rehash.

Just to say the Hamilton comparison is apt as that was what Cameron himself used. He wasnt comparing Hamilton Broadway last autumn with London last autumn. He was comparing the prices of Leslies Broadway run last year with his upcoming West End run
