Saw that Ms. McDonald won the Drama Desk tonight for Best Featured Actress/Play. Add that to her Outer Critics Circle Award from a few weeks ago ... can that all be leading up to TONY #4?
As you may recall, Audra previously won for Carousel, Master Class and Ragtime. I think that winning a 4th TONY would be amazing for her ... I can think of few others who have four acting TONYS.
I hope she gets the Tony. From what I have heard on the board and in the reviews, she deserves it. She has been my favorite actress on Broadway since I became obsessed with theatre. I can't imagine how wonderful she'd be on stage based on what I know of her from cds and movies. Here's to hoping that she'll get that fourth Tony and I'll get to see her on stage some day.
There isn't too much that Audra can't do. I have faith she'll be going home with Tony again this year.
And Son Of A Gun, she shows no sign of slowing down, so you'll definately get to see her one day! It will be more than worth the wait. The woman is amazing!
Happily, I think Audra is pretty much a lock for her 4th Tony. The Tony voters love her (and rightly so!). Now if she could only win a LEADING Actress Tony, all would be right with the world. Also, Angela Lansbury I'm pretty sure has four (Mame, Dear World, Gypsy, Sweeney Todd) all for Leading Actress. Any others?

Julie Harris has 5 Lead Actress Tonys (the record). Zoe Caldwell has four. Gwen Verdon won three leading ones and one featured.
A foolish question, has Audra done any television work?

She played the nurse in "Wit" for HBO opposite Emma Thompson.
lots! she was on a shortlived series last fall (I think it got cancelled, anyway) and did that tv version of Annie a couple seasons back...
The name of the series was Mr. Sterling (opposite Josh Brolin). It was a mid-season replacement which did not get picked up. She has also guested on Law and Order.
I had forgotten about WIT - that was an excellent production.

Lansbury also has four Tonys (MAME, DEAR WORLD, GYPSY, SWEENEY) doesn't she?

"She has also guested on Law and Order. "
Who hasn't?
She was in TV's Disney Presents: Annie
I loved Mister Sterling. I was so ill that it was canceled. I am hoping that Ms. McDonald will return to the small screen so that we can see her more frequently.
Also, great news that Audra's A RAISIN IN THE SUN revival has cracked this week's box office top 10. Wow!
Audra was also in the TV movie "Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years" in 1999. She played Bessie in her 20s.
I love Audra. I've got my fingers crossed for her at the Tonys! She soooooooooooooo deserves it!
sorry i think this woman is so over-rated..i see nothing in her performances that is nothing short of mechanical.
oooh - sparky's trying to stir it up!
Step off, Sparky. Step off. That's Miss Audra you're talking about.
I don't know about Audra, but I hope Phylicia wins. I don't know how this woman didn't win an Emmy for The Cosby Show.
Dem's fightin words, sparky
i love her voice, but im like son of a gun; havnt yet been able to see her live
everyone is entitled to their opinion and i knock no one else..i just find her to be bland and boring and competely flat....just my opinion neither right or wrong
