Posted: 5/15/07 at 9:16pmI have a feeling this *may* be like the Spamalot/Light in the Piazza issue. I bet Spring Awakening is going to win a bunch of categories, such as Best Direction, but in the end, Curtains will walk away with Best Musical. Just a guess.

If Spring Awakening does not win Best Lighting Design, I will lose all faith in the Tony voters. It was a CLEAR standout in the season.

The problem with SA is that its just not a good musical. It has a great score, a good book, and is good in the technical categories but the Direction ruins it. It cant be like LITP/SPam situation becauswe LITP deserved to win Best Musical along with all the other awards it won. SA deserves the score/book awards but not Best musical.
Best Musical is an All Incompassing award, and SA just doesn't have the All in compassing quality.

Posted: 5/15/07 at 9:40pmI'm planning on seeing Spring Awakening sometime soon. Should I buy the cd and become familiar with the music before I see the show or will it ruin the story for me? I know very little about the story - just that I have had several people tell me it is a must see show.
