Carol Channing

Unless I've missed it, there has not been much news about Carol Channing since the death of her husband. Any word of how she is doing?

Carol Channing

Carol's recuperating from knee surgery and undergoing physical rehab at Rancho Mirage. All things considered, she's doing well and has her cousin as her care-giver. She made her first public appearance a week or two ago.

Wait. Somebody has Carol Channing as her caregiver? That HAS to boost the patient's spirits.

Ethel Merman used to brag to Carol Channing....that she volunteered at Roosevelt Hospital to work with the patients on Thursday.
"Can you imagine being a patient at Roosevelt Hospital and Ethel walks in? I bet the patients must dread Thursdays."

Not very funny.
"Madam Rose...and her daughter...Gypsy!"

I bet she walked in singing "Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better"

I don't know Miss Channing personally like Dollypop does, but she has been photographed at several events by our local paper and TV stations.

Channing was front row center at the ceremony when Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner got their star on our local Walk of Fame. God bless her.

That's exactly the public appearance I referred to.

Sorry, Dolly, I didn't mean to step on your post. I thought I was just adding a detail. I think I saw her pictured at some other event, but April out here is so full of benefits and the like I lose track of them.

Wait. Did I just find out that Lily and Jane SHARE a star? How sweet!

Carol Channing

Yes, they share a star in Palm Springs, at least as it was reported in the PS paper. I haven't gone downtown to find it. (ETA I found a photo on line and it is indeed a joint star.)

I have mixed feelings. On the one hand it's sweet and there's no denying the longevity of their partnership, professionally and personally. On the other, don't they each deserve their own star? How about two stars side by side?

(BTW obviously the ladies agreed to what was done. It's not as though Palm Springs could force them into accepting something they didn't like.)
