Hey guys. I am a huge Carol Channing fan...and only 22 years old too! Just wanted to know if any of you are fans of hers too. I was lucky enough to meet her about two months ago when she won the Oscar Hammerstein award for lifetime acheivement in the theater. I got to speak with her three times, once about Alice in Wonderland (1985), once about Show Girl (1961) and the last time I got her autograph and gave her a hug goodbye after the evening was over. She was so nice and I am so glad I got to meet her. If any of you have any Carol Channing stories, I would love to hear them. Thanks!

Chris is correct. Look under the interview or column section under "features" to the left. Dollypop interviewed Ms. Channing a while back.
Also use the search function looking for her name. I'm sure you'll find many a Dollypop story about her. You may also search using the anagram TGC. That's Dollypop's pet name for The Goddess Carol.

One of my all time favorite Carol moments is in Alice in Wonderland when she sing the jam song. And when she pricks herself and turns into the goat. She rocks and I can't wait to see her show!
Jam tomorrow Jam yesterday, but never ever jam today! It's such a great song! When is her show coming to new york? I will definitely go see it.

I saw Carol Channing when she did the Hello, Dolly! tour, coming through Pittsburgh in 1967, at the old Penn Theatre - which has since been converted to Heinz Hall (home of the Pittsburgh Symphony). After curtain calls she talked with the audience. That particular night she said: "What a lovely old theatre. You know, Caruso played here. And they haven't dusted since."
I got a chance to meet her at the stage door several years later when she did the play FOUR ON A GARDEN (NOTE: Not a great show) but she was very gracious.
I also had the opportunity to hear her speak (in the form of an interview) at the Kennedy Center a few years ago. She has had a remarkable career in the theatre, truly one of the Broadway legends. She is so identified with the role of Dolly Levi, including in her Anniversary Tour production of the show in the mid-90's. It is sometimes hard to remember that she was the youngest of the Broadway Dollys during its original run (1964 - 1970). Dolly held the record for most Tony Awards, until it was eclipsed by The Producers.
Have you seen Ms. Channing's work in the original movie of Thoroughly Modern Millie? To see that movie, is to appreciate the vibrance and talent of Ms. Channing as well as her youthfulness at about the time she did Dolly on stage.

Carol Channing is a living goddess. I worship the ground she walks on and eat the dirt she kicks in my face.
That's all I have to say.
If one does not understand or appreciate Carol Channing, she or he should locate THE HOTTENTOT song and listen up good.
Carol Channing was one of the most scintillating performers of the 20th century. I saw her in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and yes, she was even better that you could imagine. More talent in her small toe than Merman or Martin had in their entire bodies. My only regret: that I did not see her in Wonderful Town or Hello Dolly.

i can't think of a reason why anyone could ever dislike Carol Channing.... even if they thought she maybe was a bad performer (which i don't).. all they'd have to do is see an interview with her to know she's one of the cutest, most loveable...just generally best people ever.
