She sang beautifully and has a warm, bubbly personality, but she also nailed the "Dear Ephraim" pathos. I saw Bette Midler in New York, and Carolee's performance matched hers IMO. The man sitting next to me said Carolee (who he'd never heard of) was a worthy successor to Channing, and I had to agree.
John Bolton as Horace did a nice job with "Penny in My Pocket" but otherwise was kind of a bland Horace. I really liked Daniel Beeman's Cornelius; based on his bio it looks like he hasn't done any NY theater, but I hope he will. Jenny Hickman's Irene made me appreciate how good Kate Baldwin was. The ensemble is terrific.

It's a shame you missed Analisa Leaming as Irene. She was exquisite.

I have tickets to see Dolly tonight, tomorrow, and all 4 shows on the weekend. I am surely hoping that they don't cancel the shows, but if they do I would get a nice return for my tickets, considering the overall investment was over 800 dollars. I saw the cast in Buffalo on Tuesday the 10th, I was sitting in the front row with my homemade hello dolly sweater. The cast could easily see it and got a huge kick out of it. I met Timmy Shew, part of the ensemble, afterwards. I know him. He said the cast is a great cast and Carmello is one of the best. I surely agreed. Her enthusiastic character was perfect for the role, and she is surely not going to disappoint. I am upset her name is not above the title, because musically she has the best talent for the role. Unfortunately she is not a big name so the producers don't feel the need to put her above the title even though she clearly deserves it.
Can not wait to see it tonight!

It looks like Shea's has to close tomorrow at 5PM under the governor's order.
"Under the state’s new guidance, New York State will ban most gatherings of more than 500 people, Mr. Cuomo said. ...Schools, hospitals, nursing homes and public transit will be exempt from the guidelines, which take effect at 5 p.m. Thursday for Broadway theaters and will go into effect for other venues on Friday at 5 p.m., Mr. Cuomo said."

Yes. That’s a shame. Leaming was one of my favorite Irenes.

The remainder of Hello Dolly in Buffalo has been cancelled. The show was to end the tour in Rochester next week, which obviously will also be cancelled. So sad for everyone involved and whose tickets are cancelled. Unknowingly, The final performance was last night. It was a great show
