I actually think that the Off-Broadway logo was Tonya Pinkins's face on a coin. I believe I saw a Playbill on ebay that had it.

It makes sense. It ties in with so many aspects of the show- quarters in the bleach cup, the scene where Rose says George Washington would approve of Caroline, the fact that Noah calls Caroline the President of the United States. And change, of course. :)
