Whoa! This really saddens me. I think I mourn more-so for those who haven't seen this extraordinary show.
As you do, Mister Matt, I wish this "insanely talented cast" nothing but the best, for they truly are insanely talented.
Hopefully now we'll find out if HBO will indeed air this show.
"I dunno why, but I think they should take this show to London.
I think it would be VERY strongly recieved there."
I doubt it. The critics might like it, but it would probably have an even shorter run in the West End. They are in worse shape than Broadway when it comes to musical theatre.
has anyone noticed that alot of the shows that opened this year are closing or have closed already? and i personally thought this was the best year of musicals in a long while.
Hey all, I've been reading the boards for a while, but just had the urge to start posting to share in the mourning of this AMAZING show. It really saddens me that people won't take a chance and see this show, but instead would rather see Mamma Mia or Phantom twenty times.
Even if the RNC did not directly have to do with the show closing, I'm sure the prospect of poor sales that week (seeing how the republicans aren't allowed to see it) had at least something to do with the decision.
OOOOO MAAAAAAN!!!!!!!
i FINALLY saw it and it closes! i mean, thank god i saw it when i did, but a show like that makes you want to see it again and again! AH!!!! i am soooooo mad! i havn't stopped listening to the cast recording since i bought it. why? why? WHY?????? it was my favorite show of the season
please people, for those of you who aren't stuck 500 miles away, go see this show before it goes, at least give them a propper goodbye.
I just read the Playbill.com article and it said "Caroline, Or Change broke new ground in the American musical theatre, and this amazing musical will be seen by many more theatre-goers across the world in the years to come." Is that a hint that it might go to london, a tour (prays), or even filmed for HBO.
ok so it's official now

Wow, this sucks. I haven't seen it but after reading all of the posts about how moving it was, I wanted(and still do want) to. There is no chance I will. I don't live that far away but my brother and sister are both in college, so another NYC trip just isn't in the cards. *Sighs*
Aaaah! I'm trying to organize a trip of just me and two other friends (I've never been to NYC without parents before, we're all 17) on 8/29. Wish me luck trying to convince the parents! (My parents are fine with it, but we need to convince the other two!)
I pray to God that HBO has captured this. Everyone grab hands and pray.

I can't believe it. THIS IS HORRIBLE! NOOOOOO! KEEP CAROLINE ALIVE! EVERYONE!!!
Why didn't poeple talk this much when LITTLE SHOP announced closure?
Little Shop was tons of fun, but there's always the movie. It's not as poignant, deep, or smart as Caroline, either. Caroline was something new and completely brilliant. Little Shop was great, but Caroline is a moving experience.
Probably because Little Shop isn't original.
Wow - so many shows are closing within a short period of time:
Little Shop of Horrors
Boy From Oz
Caroline or Change
Aida
And about the shows supported by the tourists:
Of course, it may not be often that a tourist comes into NYC, so they are going to want to see a flashy show that "wows" them, such as Lion King, Wicked and Hairspray. It is easier for someone who lives in the city to go to any show they want to, while for a tourist it may be a rare opportunity, so they are going to want to see the shows that have been receiving much acclaim. Look at it from the point of view from a tourist who may never have another chance for a while to make it into the city.

i still can't believe it...something just broke (hehe). I've been telling everyone to go. See it. it's amazing. if not, buy the recording. it will blow the Webber out of your BUTT! i'm so sad... don't get me wrong, i liked Hairspray but please, why don't people go out on a limb and see something that might make them THINK!! AHHH!
I have 3rd row, Center Orch. tickets for this Sunday. I knnew there was a reason that I kept saying " I need to see this show!" So 4 credit cards later, and calling a friend for assisstance, I finally got my tickets. But this will not be the end of Caroline.

i can say nothing that hasn't already been said.

I feel like crying. Caroline is the best original musical I've seen in years, a truly moving piece of art. First Assassins, now this. Broadway keeps losing its best productions.
I'm hoping for an HBO broadcast and maybe a DVD release. With commentary. :) Just to make lemonade out of these lemons.
HBO better do something !!!Air it..DVD it...something !!!
Just got (2) tix for Sat nite thru TDF... will be our 7th time!
We love this show !! Truly, a sad day !!!
