The website now says "Carrie, The Musical: Dance At The Prom"
And dropping buzzwords "immersive production" Anyone know what they are doing?
While running around the McKittrick Hotel was fun, I'm not sure I need to hang out in a recreated gym and have fake blood spilled on me.

No they didn't. I just checked their website and this was on the first page:
"Outrageous, controversial and completely thrilling, CARRIE comes to LA in a blazing new immersive production sure to be the theatrical event of the year."
I was wondering how exactly they're going to make Carrie "immersive," but I think you're probably right, FindingNamo. Also, I was wondering why there are no performance dates announced- even on the casting notice, they said "TBA." I thought it was supposed to perform this October, then it got pushed to 2014? What's going on THERE?
I'm still extremely excited to see this!

They'll be dropping real pig's blood on the audience and then setting them on fire in the second act.
THAT's immersive.

Maybe we can see an "immersive" production of The Poseidon Adventure where everybody drowns.
Or an interactive, immersive production where everybody votes for everyone who drowns.

I think there should be a production of The Poseidon Adventure where the theatre gets flipped upside down. The audience would then see the show from the perspective of the characters. All the seats in the theatre could be equipped with roller-coaster type restraints so that nobody falls out.
I'd go see it.

missthemountains, I saw that production in L.A. in the '90s!
EDIT: Best part ... I sat next to Mink Stole during the performance. I was in kitsch/camp heaven!
Talk about immersive!

My guess is that they're going to do the Evil Dead thing and cover the audience in blood.
Or, for the prom scene, people will be invited onstage to dance and then forced to take their seats before the destruction. You know, a nice, smooth, nothing can go wrong concept.
