I agree with Civil War.. I have the double cd that was released but I would have loved to hear the braodway version. I mean come on... they have a cast recording of the most hidious show I ever saw "COPACABANA" and not "The Civil War"
DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES!!!
danc eof the vampires
I would not only like the cd but a DVD of the show. I know I am in the minority but my wife & I loved the show as did the audience that day that gave the cast a rousing standing ovation.

Let's make it 4 for Dance of the Vampires
D
I'll make it 5 for DOTV & throw in Rockabye Hamlet while you are at it
Michael Crawford did a musical of "Flowers for Algernon", but it didnt do too well and they didnt have time to makea cast recording. But after the show, the cast, including michael all pitched in to make an official recording. Oh, how I wish they would consider doing that for Dance of the Vampires! Im sick of living off the demos.

While the show didnt flow as well as it couldve (IMHO) i think the cast album would be wonderful. It might even live up to the expectations that the show didn't (although i did enjoy it, it just dragged at points)

I would have loved to have a cast recording of Leader of the Pack on CD. That was such a fun show.

BOJon, I'll second a Leader of the Pack CD. My tape of that has been played so often it's practically destroyed. I really need to get a unit to plug my turntable into so that I can retape some of my albums.
BTW, how could you forget Patrick Cassidy!

yes yes yes... The Cassidy man! I forgot. Please do not let me forget this again. If you do I will not longer be able to be Leader of the Pack at the Chapel of Love. And I will have to Wait Till My Bobby Gets Home so I Can Hear Music.

I would like to see a cast album of the touring of Scarlet Pimpernel as I heard the tour was a re-do of a re-do of a re-do or something like that.
My choices:
ANGEL (LP never commercially released - some great songs here by the SHENANDOAH team.)
CARNIVAL (London Cast - not as well sung as the Broadway version but more complete in the song department.)
CRY FOR US ALL (Interesting, epic sounding score.)
EVITA (Brazilian Cast with the amazing Claudia in the title role. Her versions of Buenos Aires, Rainbow High & I'd Be Surprisingly Good For You MUST be heard to be believed!)
A FAMILY AFFAIR (John Kander score w/Larry Kert, Eileen Heckart and Linda Lavin in a small role.)
FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (French Cast. This is the best sung version of the score in my opinion.)
GONE WITH THE WIND (London Cast - why not?)
HAZEL FLAGG (Fun Jule Styne score w/Helen Gallagher sounding to me like a young Judy Garland at times.)
IRENE (1976 London Revival Cast with Julie Anthony who sings it much better than Debbie.)
LET IT RIDE! (Fun, campy score by the OH, CAPTAIN team.)
MY FAIR LADY (1976 Revival Cast w/Christine Andreas.)
PROMISES, PROMISES (London Cast w/Betty Buckley.)
RIVERWIND (Off-Broadway show with some beautiful songs.)
THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG (1980 Argentinian Cast with the terrific Valeria Lynch who sounds like a mixture of Streisand and Midler.)
THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG (1981 Italian Cast with the incredible Loretta Goggi as Sonia who sounds like she's having a blast! This show also sounds great in Italian.)
A TIME FOR SINGING (Great choral/vocal arrangements on this LP and some of the songs are incredibly powerful.)
That's it for now!

YOUR ARMS ARE TOO SHORT TO BOX WITH GOD
SARAVA (I really liked the score!)
One more for Dance of the Vampires. I *LIKED* the music!
I second Sarava All that I have besides a Playbill is a 33 1/3 lp with 2 disco versions of songs "Sarava" & "You, Do" .The score was never recorded
I'll second Buck's choice of the London cast of IRENE and PROMISES, PROMISES with Betty Buckley and Tony Roberts. IRENE with Julie Anthony is far superior to the Broadway version. The orchestra sounds fabulous on this recording.
I have the Italian THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG. I think I can live without it on CD though, I've not heard the Argentinian cast. I would also like to have the Australian cast albums of CHARLIE GIRL and PIPPIN on CD.
How could I possibly forget the Australian Cast Recording of PIPPIN?!?!? Thanks for reminding me. Johhny Farnham ("Pippin") and Colleen Hewett ("Catherine") sing the you-know-what out of this score. Actually, the overall singing on this LP is much better than the Broadway or South African recordings. Colleen Hewett has a Dusty Springfield type voice that never ceases to amaze me and Johnny Farnham, singing in higher keys, takes some exciting liberties with his songs. GREAT recording!
How about " Donnybrook"
