Does anyone know if there will be a Broadway cast recording of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? I can only find the London Cast and I'd love to hear it with Raul Esparza and Erin Dilly. Any info or guesses?
There are no plans to record the Broadway cast at this time.
Not happening.

times many.
I mentioned to my friend that I wished they would make a Broadway Recording for Chitty, and for some reason also mentioned that I was listening to the song “Teamwork”. She said that maybe if I walked around the Hilton Theatre playing that song they would all ban together and make a recording because it is such an inspiring song. This greatly amused me when she said it, I also wish they would decided to make a recording. This cast is so wonderful!
heh. I have that song on now! If *only* it were so easy.
i much prefer Raul's "hushabye"... so upsetting
It's a crime not to record this cast.
Don't give up hope! Nothing is ever set in concrete in the entertainment industry!
"Nothing is impossible."
I would very much like to hear "Act English" instead of "Think Vulgar" as it is on the London cast CD...
Petition!!
I love this cast. Therefore I am very sad there is no cast recording.
Yes I they think they should make a recording of this. I think though if they were going to they would have done it by now.

Mucho sadness here. Hushabye Mountain and the Truly Scrumptious/Doll on a Music Box medly are my favorites. I *love* this show...
It surprised me how much I liked this show. Raul, Marc, and Jan make me smile and I fell for Erin. Me wants Chitty obcr!!

I told you so!
I second everything that has been said! I want to hear Raul sing "Hushabye Mountain" again.
That song alone is worth my twenty-five bucks. Every time.
It is so amazing to hear Raul sing "Hushabye Mountain". I really liked "Hushabye Mountain" when Michael Ball sings it on the London Recording, but the first time I hear Raul singing it I was completely floored. Words cannot express how much I love him singing that song or how saddened I am that I cannot go see the show again.

Hell, it was worth my hundred bucks when I paid it...
That too!
*counts*
Well, it's worth however much I've racked up in tickets to date. *coughchoke*
The first time I heard Raul sing that song, I literally sunk down into my seat, and was entranced like I have never been before. Literally, like a lullabye.
I enjoyed Raul too, but I really wanna get Jan Maxwell (who I am convinced SHOULD have won the Tony) on disc.
But, from what I've been told, it's not happening. Right now, they sell the London CD at the theater, and it's selling quite well. The British producers don't want a Broadway recording, because it will cut into the profits of their CD. Plus, with the London CD selling well, there's no reason to go through the expense of recording another one.
As a general rule, I think any major production that decides to make changes to the script and score when mounting a new production, should feel inclined to record a new CD to reflect those changes...

I have it on VERY good authority that no final decision has been reached on NOT producing a bcr for CHITTY..... reason they haven't done it yet is that sales of the lcr sell just fine in the theatre (about 300 per week)... a deal may be in the works to defray the recording costs for the Broadway show...if that comes together it will be done; and also another reason it has NOT been ruled out is the new songs that were added for the B-way production need to be "memorialized" so to speak. GO CHITTY!
That number is kinda shocking considering the ammount of people the theatre is capable of housing per week is in the thousands and only 300 purchased the London cast CD? no wonder they don’t want to risk it...
