Cast Recording - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Posted: 9/8/05 at 4:43pmWell, really - CD's at the theatre are grossly overpriced. So I doubt that the amount of LCR's being sold THERE is a good indicator of how many people are REALLY buying. The unfortunate truth is, though, that most people who go see Chitty in New York aren't going to give a damn one way or the other who they hear on the CD they take home.

Posted: 9/9/05 at 8:33pmThe only thing is though, the theater is one of the few places where you can get the Chitty London CD. The only other places I know of that have it are Amazon.Uk and Footlight. And the average family attending Chitty knows nothing about either of those sites, so they pay $25 at the theater. Or, they say $25 is too much for a CD, and settle for the $10 souvenir brochure instead.

wow thanks for all the input on this! I was wondering if there were any differences in the London show and the Broadway show and you all answered that too! I'm seeing the show in December so maybe with a little luck there will be an obc recording by then......that would rule!
p.s. does anyone know the exact differences in the 2 shows?

"Think Vulgar" has been changed to "Act English," like someone said. And the new song is FAR funnier.
The other changes are very minimal - tiny nuances here and there. I think. I thought there was one other big one, but I can't remember it.

I don't mean for people to hate me, but I would only buy the recording for Jan and Marc's rendition of Chu-Chi Face, and Bombie Samba, otherwise the London show was far superior to this.

You're probably right......I'm out in the great abyss of New Jersey (haha) where none of our local music stores sell it, not even the Barnes and Noble, which usually has a pretty good selection of cast recordings. This is what we non-New Yorkers have to suffer through...

both the Broadway and London websites have song lists that you can compare and contrast, kitty.
