Cast Recording Help

Hey! I saved a little bit of money to purchase a cast recording and I was wondering which one I should get. The two options for me are A Little Night Music and Memphis. Can anyone help me choose one?

Having not seen either, but listened to Memphis and so far part of act one of ALNM (not that I'm not VERY familiar with the show already), I would go with Night Music. Memphis left me cold.

Thank you! I am leaning towards ALNM. I purchased Road Show last year and I was very underwhelmed. Is ALNM much different than that?

A Little Night Music is just a far superior show in general, though I would get the Original Broadway or London cast recording before purchasing the Broadway revival recording. They are not as complete, but both are superior in orchestrations and performances (I lean towards the London recording, myself).

I prefer the OBC of Night Music.

That said, I've been enjoying Memphis, although the vocals are sometimes overpowered by the music.

I agree with what's been said so far in terms of which recording is the best (ALNM OBC), but let me suggest in terms of getting the most for your money the new recording of ALNM has the most lavish package.

You can download the others and not miss out on too much. But the revival recording of ALNM is a must have as a hard copy for the book alone.

Get A Little Night Music and download "Memphis Lives in Me" on itunes. It's really the only song worth having from Memphis.

I actually enjoy the CD of Memphis, though I haven't seen the show. I find the music quite enjoyable. I've listened to it more times than Road Show and Bounce put together.
