re: Cast annnounced for new West End production of CABARET

I adore Anna Maxwell Martin and can't wait to see her in the role. Bit sceptical about Dreyfus but I'll reserve judgment until I see it. Anyone have any opinions about Hayden, other in this role or others, as I know nothing about him? :)

It's interesting that Hayden is reprising his performance as Cliff, having previously been one of the replacements in the recent Broadway revival. He was great in "Judgment at Nuremberg," although that's the only thing I've seen him in. His singing is pretty lackluster on the "Carousel" recording, but assuming Cliff's solo is cut in this production as well, the character hardly sings.

Does anyone know how he is able to work in both the U.S. and England? Does he have duel citizenship or is there some kind of deal that's been made between the unions for this production?

I presume it will be something a bit different than either the original Broadway script or the Sam Mendes script. Every major revival seems to pull different elements from the previous versions. I suppose it will depend on what the director's concept for the material is. I dont think Michael Hayden has duel citizenship, but maybe. I think he's just being done as an Equity exchange. Tons of those this season.

Ah ha! Thanks for clearing that up Otis. I'm pretty sure he was taken to London as part of an Equity exchange for CAROUSEL as he was fresh out of Julliard; I wonder if he met his wife while he was over there performing.
